I know that on highend salons and hair stylists advise you to trim your hair every 2 or 3 months to avoid split ends and also they recomend veey expensive treatments and shampoos with out salt... but let me tell you my story
I have always loved and have had long hair but one day came up with one of those ideas of chop it off and I I did...
tried to grew it back with those advises and in a year I grew one inch and a half even taking vitamins... then my grandma visited and saw the products that I was using and said that it was outrageous the amount of money that I was spwnding on shampoo and cuting my hair that often will end up with shirt hair... so I listened to her and started using a simple dove shampoo from the drugstore stoped cuting my hair for a year now and made a warm hair mask myself with natural aloe olive oil and argan oil one a week and voila!! long hair no split ends at all super shinny and moisturized... I love it and grows faster without taking the extra vitamins so I don't know... what do you thing about this...!? have you tried it!?

Well lies and lies is a little hard I think.
If you have hair that tends to get split ends then getting them cut often is good for your in the way that the split ends dosent split the hairs to fare up.
I agree with the fact that many of the very expensive shampoos and so on is not worth the price but then again some are worth it. Many Redken products are absolutly wonderful if you get ones that is meant for your type of hair.

I have been rough on my hair - bleaches it and dyed it every color in the book for more than 15 years - but even after all that my ends dosent split very much, so I get it trimmed every 6 month or so, and that works for my hair. As for shampoo I also use dove and love it, but then I will buy more expensive hair masks which I find works better.

But hair is so different - and what works for one might now work for other!

I don't visit the salon that often maybe once a year. If I need a trim, as in I see split ends, I trim it at home. I don't buy expensive shampoos I use anything available at Costco lol. Also if I want to treat my hair I do a coconut oil mask and leave on for an hour before I shower. You know... Coconut oil from the kitchen. I don't fall for that stuff because my grandma who's 97 years old has awesome hair lol and she can't afford none of that stuff! Living in a third world country and all you know what I'm saying.

Riiiight!!? love my grandma she also can not afford those products and I was spending to much on them by them so I listened to her I love her hair too she is 93 years old.

And I've been dyeing my hair too every 20-30 days as now it grow so fast and since the past 5 months I'm a gold blonde I've been bleaching it and no splits ends since I stoped but when I used to trim it often in a matter of 2 weeks I had split ends so idont do it anymore and I think I'm going to trim them my self when needed.

I couldnt agree more with you!! its outrageous and of course they want you to spend as much as possible. except for some of the shampoo part. a lot of shampoos from the drugstore are full of waxes. but hey people have been using them forever lol.

I find it hard to belive that after a year, your hair only grew one inch. hair growth comes from with in, so if that's the case then you probably should have went to the doctors and had blood work done. I have been doing hair for 14 years, and let me tell you this...I can feel cheap products in people's hair. if someone is using cheap shampoo, conditioner, hairspray, or styling products they leave a film and coating on the hair. most stylist do not get a big cut from products, it's not even enough to make a difference in our pay checks. we just want you to use quality products to keep your hair in good shape.

split ends are inevitable, they are going to happen. if someone is growing their hair out, I always recomend a trim every 3 months to get the ends off. split ends travel up and up the hair shaft, making the ends thin and prone to breakage. we're not trying to take your money or rip you off, believe me. we just want you to have nice, healthy hair. I can fill my day with colors and hilites (and clients who respect my trade and quality hair) and make more money off that then having a schedule full of girls who get a cut every 6 months and a conditioning treatment that won't do anything for their dried out split ends and are a total pain in my butt. I'm not sure why you think we are out to rip you off and just make money off of you. we are trained professionals who take pride in our work and want what's best for your hair.
