I'm looking to get box braids like Zoë Kravitz because she is my style icon. Hers look so good and natural... Does she use human hair or synthetic hair? What are your opinions on human hair vs synthetic hair?

I don't know what hers look like, but I'm sure she can afford using human hair, but synthetic hair is usually the best way to go for upkeep reasons. Plus you seal the ends by either burning or boiling them, but with human hair you can't do that and must use elastics.

I say synthetic. You get more for less & It's way easier.

I've had box braids before and my mom always used synthetic hair. Because their braids you don't get much styling options in terms of using heating tools, but its inexpensive and lasts quite a while. We usually used Kanekalon hair ( I think thats the type we used) and if I wanted my hair curled we grabbed some rollers and poured some hot water over it. You do need to be careful when doing that, but it always turned out nicely.

It depends on the color you get whether or not they'll be silky. just get Marley hair if you're worried about a silky look.

Ok thanks guys! Just to clarify... Marley hair is less shiny?

Marley is less shiny. But as long as you get synthetic hair that isn't shiny, if you go to sallys they'll have a whole section for you to pick which brand and shininess you like.

She probably uses real human hair but I recommend using synthetic and if you really want to use human hair , you can always buy a bulk of it at Ali express (may cost 100-200 dollars) but I'm not really sure you can always check.

I think I'm going to try human hair since people have said that synthetic breaks them out
