I soak mine, squeeze it out and use a paper towel. I feel like excess water wouldn't blend so much as make stuff runny!

I soak and then squeeze out the excess, the whole spraying it thing sounds like a good idea. I've heard of people doing that with MAC Fix+ or setting sprays.
