Yesterday I put together an outfit which consisted of a short cheetah print skirt which had black triangle side panels which ran from the top of the skirt, to the bottom, on both sides. With this skirt I paired a black crop top, which revealed no cleavage. The skirt was tight fitting & short, however high waisted. I felt this would be a little too revealing, so I threw a white blazer over the top to make me feel more covered up and comfortable.
I was trying to make use of clothes that I don't often wear, and so I was really excited about my outfit, however as I was waking out of the house, my boyfriend stopped me, and told me he didn't agree with what I was wearing. After feeling so good and confident about myself and my outfit, I felt the complete opposite.
He later went on to say that I was dressed like (excuse my language, because I absolutely hate this word) a Sl#t, and basically that cheetah print is associated with that word.
The photo I have attached is pretty similar to what I was wearing, however mine was high waisted and didn't have the stripes on the bottom of skirt. My outfit also differed in that I had a black crop top on showing between 5-10cm of the midriff.
What do you think? Was my outfit too revealing? Is Cheetah print too sexual?

I feel like tiny dresses are way too revealing, yes. But that outfit isn't, maybe if you were wearing the dress alone..

Maybe if you were wearing the dress alone it would be too revealing*

I think you should wear what you want but personally wouldn't have worn a leopard print skirt one because I don't like leopard print In my opinion it looks tacky and two because I wouldn't wear a tight short skirt with a crop too but that is personally just me if you like it that's all that counts!

I definitely feel like cheetah print has been WAAAYYY overdone in the past year or two.

Personally, and I'll say this in the nicest way possible, your boyfriend doesn't own you nor does he own your body. sorry, I guess I am the only one that caught that, I just hate when guys do that. Who cares? If you thought you looked great (which I'm sure you did!), no one else's opinions should matter. People will always talk about you and what you wear so might as well do as you please : )

I don't think it's too revealing at all. I mean how many girls wear crop tops? A ton. And cheetah print is just a print like polka dots or stripes. Also I agree that it's your body. Sometimes my boyfriend doesn't like what I wear (short shorts or dresses), but none of my "private" parts are showing so I see no problems.
I feel like the word slut and it's definition are so patriarchal.

I might just be the weird one but I think it's important to take your partners thoughts on it into consideration I wouldn't wear something my boyfriend found inappropriate because I don't want to look inporopriate just as I wouldn't allow him to go out wearing a man thong lol.

Your private parts don't show when you wear a bra and pants but you wouldn't go out in them haha just saying.

My boyfriend was too expressive about things I've worn done with myself as well until I let him know just what I said up there^, it's way too common in relationships, and honesty it's just insecurity on the guy's part. They don't want no one "looking" at "THEIR" girl. Which is understandable but not necessary, it's not our faults anyway, people will look or whatever regardless.

It is important to take their opinions into consideration, of course, but what should we do? Dress like nuns because we have a partner? No. Lol..I mean, unless she was showing her boobies everywhere and half of her booty was hanging out then understandable, but it wasn't much revealing stall as Leanda said. Lol anyways..that's a whole they topic >.<

Taking into account your specific example I'd say that NO guy has the right to call you a slut or to police your dress. You said that you felt confident and and good about yourself but just because he opened his mouth he completely made you feel the opposite. I don't care what is happening no man or woman has the right to do that to another human being. Like some of the other girls here said, just because he calls himself your boyfriend doesn't mean he own your body. However if it really made him feel uncomfortable then there are many other ways he could have pointed that out instead of immediately sexualizing your body to prove his point.

Amen Melanie :-) put it better than me haha.

I agree with Charlotte. It was right of him to call you the s word but it's good to respect his opinions sometimes. I would hate it if my boyfriend went out with a tank top that showed his nipples (eww hate those) and he wouldn't like it if I went out in a super low cut top and tiny skirt.

Woooah I think that was a miss type but if not I don't think it was right of him to call her a slutt haha but I'm sure it was a miss type

No it's not too revealing. not trying to be funny but you should beware of guys that want to control things like that about you and for him to say you were dressed "slutty" really isn't ok.

I agree with the ladies above, although there's a difference between being called a slut or being told that you dress like a slut. Either way, you should tell him that he has title to his own opinion, but has no right to tell you how to dress. No one does.

Another thing, there's a difference being slutty and sexy.

No your outfit was not too sexy and a print cannot be too sexy. I don't wear cheetah print clothing much if it all because I don't really love it but if I did I would. I agree your bf can have his own opinion but I feel it's a little childish to use that word towards you in reference to an outfit and I don't think you should let that make you feel less confident again. I've been with guys who didn't like when I showed too much skin, but I was younger and so were they. I feel your man should know an outfit can't be slutty or make you look different when they know who you are. My bf now is a few years older and I feel like he's much more self assured in those situations now with me than others I've dated. I like to show skin when we go out, not to sound conceited but I love my body and work out a lot to look this way and enjoy showing it off and when guys check me out because of that he says it doesn't bother him he just thinks to himself, yeah my girl is beautiful, and I love that he lets me be me. I don't mean to make this question about cheetah print skirts into a topic of your relationship but I've been there and don't want any girl feeling less confident from someone's words even if it is your boyfriend so maybe just mention to him that it deterred you from feeling comfortable and confident because you don't want him to be upset with what you're wearing in the future so you do care about his opinion but to maybe re think is word choice next time.

What us girls wear does not define our sexual life. If my boyfriend said that to me, I would have walked straight out the door and carried on my day. It would be more understandable if he said something a little less harsh like, "that outfit isn't really suited for today" (if he felt that it wasn't), instead of calling you a slut. Cheetah print has been around for ages. My 63 year old grandma has everything cheetah print. I'm sorry you had to feel insecure about yourself because of what you are wearing. But remember, the clothes you wear do not define your sexual actions

Crop tops and short skirts are a no no for me personally. I usually pair a crop top with a high waisted midi skirt. I think the mini skirt is extremely revealing and my significant other would feel the same way

You should definitely have a talk with your boyfriend about it! Be sure you establish that he does not own you and you dress for yourself not others, but also keep in mind his comfort and feelings. I personally wouldn't go out showing more skin than clothes because I know my boyfriend would feel uncomfortable with the stares and that's important to me. As for weather is too revealing, that's a matter of opinion and if you're comfortable that's what matter :)

Also, the word slut is rude regardless of the context he used it in. He should not disrespect you like that even if you went out in nothing but a thong.
