I'm dying my hair purple on the 10th and I just wanted to know if anyone had any tips on keeping the color from fading. I've had bright red hair for the last few years so I already use sulfate free shampoo and cold water.

As someone who has had some form of purple hair for the last 5 years, it's basically the same, care-wise. The only additional things I'd suggest are keeping your hair out of the water as much as possible, investing in a good dry shampoo, keeping a bottle of your dye on hand for touch ups, you can add this to shampoo and conditioner but I don't do that I just touch up my hair when needed. Use a good quality hair dye for that, one that you know works well on your hair. Always use a heat protectant otherwise your hair dye can kind of smear out on your hands and such. That's pretty much all I do and my purple hair lasts for months easily :)

I had purple hair and the only thing I changed was switching to a colour protecting shampoo/conditioner. However, I only wash my hair once a week anyway and don't use much heat. It took about 9 months for the colour to fully grow out and I used Schwarzkopf XXL colour in Cyber Purple, which is apparently notoriously stubborn to fade. I didn't find keeping the colour fresh-looking very difficult at all :)
