Does putting Vaseline on your lashes really work? I have tried this for about 4 days and do *think* I see a difference, but it could just be my imagination or something (because I've heard that it should work - like I see what I want to see, whatever). Does it or is it just me?

I have heard that it is fake and that the vaseline can get stuck under your eyelids. Personally I think the getting stuck part is bs and I have never tried it myself. If you see a difference then I think it would work :)

Vaseline doesn't do anything at all for your lashes, it anything, it'll cause an infection.

Putting Vaseline on your eyelashes is a disaster waiting to happen. I would just find a mascara created to make your lashes appear fuller or longer

I agree with Shanae, Janelle and Riff. I really don't think you should even risk getting an eye infection.

It doesn't work. It's a placebo effect.

Alright my favorite topic ;)

Let's get one thing straight, your lashes shed. They fall off and regrow every 28-32 days therefore if you want to make any change you will have to directly effect the hair follicle.

If you have ever applied Vaseline onto your face, you have probably noticed that it breaks you out like crazy. Vaseline has large particles that act as sealants and seal moisture onto the surface it's applied to, but your facial skin is much too sensitive and instead of absorbing it it just get clogged into the pores. Something very important to remember about your eyes is that they're MUCH more sensitive than the rest of your face. Your eyelashes cannot physically absorb Vaseline, instead it will coat the lashes and seal moisture underneath. Sounds great right? Nope! It just makes a perfect breeding ground for bacteria. Vaseline can cause eye infections, and untreated eye infections can lead to extreme problems such as vision loss. Your eyes are sensitive things, do not play with them. Because petroleum jelly coats the lashes and is reflective, it can cause the illusion of growth. This is not growth, just oil build up. The most you can really do for your lashes is be sure to keep them moisturized and avoid mascara when you don't need it. I personally love coconut oil for mine.

YES, I WAS WAITING FOR THIS TOPIC. Okay so I work for Ophthalmologists in Salt Lake City and on Friday we had a 22 year old patient in because she had a quite large, painful bump under her upper eye lid and her lids were fused closed with puss, we cleaned her eye up, flipped the lid and found a nasty infectious boil, she had to have it painfully drained in our office, and now she has to use drops for 35-38 days to keep the infection away. Wanna know what the infection was from? Putting vaseline on her lashes ;) It trapped infection and caused a huge build up under her lid. KEEP VASELINE AWAY FROM EYES. THEY WILL NOT GROW YOUR LASHES. Latise/Lumigan is the only thing that will really work, which is a drop that is safe to use to put on the lash lines.

An eyelash technician and an eye specialist lol Girl we make a power couple on these topics ;)

Dude, I need to screen shot that and post it next time this topic comes up. I never know what to say and then I always end up in an argument because I can't word myself correctly.

The ladies are completely right, I don't know why this stuff floats around, it really worries me that people are suggesting such detrimental diys. @brittany I'm an esthetician and recently started doing eyelash extensions as well, I love it!

Don't use Vaseline on eyelashes. It can develop to bacteria plus it does not work!

Anything extra length you see on your lashes isnt because they got longer, its just buildup on the ends of your lashes.
