I like Real Techniques! you can get them at Walmart! I can't remember exactly how much I paid! But it was anywhere between 15 and 20 dollars!

I get mine from the craft store! They work great, and they're only a couple dollars a piece. I can't bring myself to spend $20+ on a brush at sephora or ulta when I can get the same thing for $3 at Michaels.

Sonia Kashuk, Coastal Scents, Eco Tools, Bdellium Tools (those brushes I put through abuse and they've held up wonderfully and apply my makeup so well), ELF, MAC, and Sephora's brushes are all pretty good. I tired the RT brushes and I wasn't a fan of them at all. They shed on me quite badly and the quality of the ferrule was kinda meh, they dented up on me and started to look like junk. I even gave them to my sister who isn't advanced in makeup as I am, she didn't like them either 😕

Eco Tools and Real Techniques are basically the same thing and I'm not a fan of either. I use Royal Connections brushes (which are about 3.95 a piece) and BareMinerals brushes, which are a little more expensive but so worth it :)

I took lessons from a makeup artist that works for Laura Mercier (talk about intimidating right??) and she told me that if you have the right brushes you can take crappy product and make it look awesome. My collection is from Sigma and some from the makeup academy I attended. After she told me that I decided to spend a little less on makeup and save up for some high quality brushes like Kevyn Aucouin or something similar.

Thanks Kathryn yes I can see how that would be intimidating and I do love the Kevyn Aucouin brushes but there expensive and I'm on kind of a tight budget! (:
