Good heat protectant, least amount of heat, hair mask weekly, use a leave in conditioner, don't brush your hair when it's wet, eat healthy, drink a lot of water, get trims when you have split ends.

Pay attention to the ingredients in your products, don't tie up hair a lot because that can weaken it, and be very gentle if you use a towel to dry your hair- blot, don't rub or twist your hair when it's wet

Cut your hair every 3-6 months depending on how long you want it and how rapidly you get split ends - use a moisturizing conditioner and shampoo if your hair is notoriously dry - and use a clarifying shampoo once a week (can be in the form of awapuhi if you have a sensitive scalp) - try to limit your washing to every other day or less if you can - and try to limit your heat usage to every other day or less if you can - when you do use heat always use a protectant spray beforehand and seal it with a moisturizing oil afterwards to seal the cuticle - those are my tips that keep my hair split end free for up to 6 months or more when I rarely use heat and only wash 2-3 times a week.

Also the reason to get regular cuts is because you cannot repair damaged hair - products may seem to do the trick but without the product you will see the split ends which means it's only masking the problem - once the ends split that means those ends are dead - you cannot revive them or bring them back to life - you have to cut them off n move on with your life :P and use preventative measures to keep it healthy after a cut :)
