Along with a few friends, I'm doing Frugal February. The idea is that to make up for holiday season spending you have to go a whole month without buying anything that isn't a necessity. That includes makeup and skin care. ACCCCK!
In anticipation I did a big haul in late Jan, getting all my skin care supplies and some fun new things to play with, hopefully that will last the month.
But it's just so hard not makeup shopping. I'm addicted. I was in Walgreens filling a prescription and it was difficult to force myself not to even look at the makeup. UGH.
Anyone else doing Frugal Feb? Any tips for willpower?

Thank goodness Feb is the shortest month.

Good luck! I'm not a big spender when it comes to makeup so I think I'll be fine, I do it willingly hahah!

Yes ma'am. I have made no purchases for myself, with the exception of one joint order with my baby sister on Feb 1, in which I got exactly 1 eyeliner and a perfume, plus gifts for my friends. Aside from that, I'm no longer buying things for myself for this month, and probably March as well since March contains my birthday.

Alright! Solidarity, Hannah. It's going to be tough for me.

I found a loophole though: I have an item to return to Target, which I might exchange, since that doesn't count as a new purchase. It might be best just to do the return though, that way I stay out of the makeup section.

No problem, I'm here for sure =) I'd just avoid the makeup section altogether and get a movie instead.

Ooh I was in a frenzy a few months ago and while I didn't make big expensive purchases, I bought a makeup or skincare item every time I went somewhere and lately I have no desire to thank god! I already have everything I need and will use and I'd rather use my money to go do fun things than hoard makeup. I'd rather do things than have them if that makes sense. Bought concert tix instead.

Sounds like a secular version of Lent, haha. I can dig it! I haven't bought anything this month except a gift for my I Run 4 runner, so I guess I'm doing pretty good! I am too broke to go on a spending spree anyway. ;)

Jenny, what a good idea Frugal February is. I use it to dig out all of my old make up and try things I don't normally use. There is always one surprise that I have forgotten about and becomes a firm favourite. It also is a good chance to through away things past their use by date e.g. old mascara's. When March come s round I have a new shopping list ready to go

Emily, lol, yes, it's harder to give up buying makeup than to give up eating meat on Fridays. Rachel, that's a great idea. I did that before Christmas so I could give my mom a crack at the Big Box of Unloved Makeup. But I could definitely go back through the box to see if there's anything I could try to loop back into the rotation.

To cut down on my online makeup shopping, I'm copying at pasting everything in all my open tabs of makeup wants into a wishlist, that way I won't loose track of all my research when Feb. ends.

Don't walk into stores with extra cash. If you don't have the $$ you simply can't buy all those extra items.
