Hi guys! I was looking through my photos from a recent trip, and I found a picture of a macaw, and decided I wanted to create a design based on it! I will show you my inspiration, and then my interpretation! Here we go!

I used only Zoya polishes, except an unbranded white and grey. I used Jace, Demetria, Talia, Genesis, Oceane, Aphrodite, and Piaf.

Tutorial:

Accent nail - I started off with a base of Jace. Then I used a white polish to paint a base for my macaw. This way the colors would stand out. Then I used a nail art brush and Demetria to paint the red of the macaw, and then I used Talia to add the blue wings. I used Piaf to create the beak. I went over the feathers with Genesis, to add depth and create the illusion of the sun hitting them. I added a small grey dot for the eye.

Index, Middle, and Pinky- I started off with a base of Jace. Using a small nail brush, I painted feathers using both Aphrodite and Oceane.

I feel like I didn't do the picture justice. Macaws are beautiful creatures, and I found it difficult to paint it well. What do you think? Any constructive criticism?

Thanks Sadie! I used to feel the same way, I could barely sit still for a coat to dry, but somehow I got used to it lol I am not a very patient person, but when it comes to my nails somehow I am :)

Haha I understand, I used to do nail designs all the time! But it would have to be an all day thing, Oh it would take me so long haha

Wow! I am trying to speed up the process, I think I can get a decent design done in about an hour. I have people ask me to do their nails, and they want a super complex design, but they only have an hour. I have started to adapt to that schedule lol.

There's no way I could do it in under an hour! I think the last complex nail design I did was a turkey for thanksgiving (lol) and it took me three hours, then it smudged and I had to restart all over again! So now if I do end up doing one, I try to keep it simple for that reason. But I'm looking closer at the bird you did, and you really put some detail into that! How did you get the dots on the face so small? Do you have a really small brush?

Aww that is too bad! I hate when I finish a design and then it smudges right away! That is the worst!! And thanks! I really wanted to add as much detail as possible. And I don't think I have an especially small brush. I have a typical 15 piece set, and I just used the basic nail art brush.
