I have been noticing my hair falling out a lot lately and it really worries me, I'm only 17, too young for excessive hair loss. do you guys know anything I can do with my diet to help slow hair loss? or any hair products I can try? I think changing my diet would work better but I'm not sure what vitamins and stuff help with your hair. please help, thanks.

To keep your hair healthy, you want to make sure you are not using heat on your hair, aren't brushing it while it's wet, and as you said, maintain a nice, clean diet. you could also ask your doctor.

Jeri if your hair is falling out in an alarming amount you should see a doctor and get bloodwork done.
If its just a moderate hair loss then keep in mind that we do loss about 100 strand a hair a day - and I do experince that I loss more in har hot summer month!

What is a lot? It is normal to lose up to 100 per day. Perhaps a quick read of

might point you in the right direction. Hope it helps.

Before you do anything see a doctor, it could be due to a number of things. x

You need to examine how the loss is occurring. Are they entire strands or is this shedding from breakage? Have you processed your hair? Are you beung gentle? Where is the loss occuring..in the shower..when you brush..all day regardless of activity? Excessive hair loss can sometimes be a symptom of underlying health issues such as deficiencies or Endocrine issues, such as the thyroid. As the ladies have noted, some hair loss is common, but if it is truly excessive, I agree that a trip to the physician for blood work is an excellent idea.

I have been wondering the same thing. Lately I have been losing a ton of hair, especially when I condition my hair in the shower, or comb it afterwards, whether it is wet or dry. I went to the doctor and got a blood test (this was also due to excessive headaches and joint pain) but everything came back normal. My doctor recommended to keep taking my vitamins, and I am seeing my hairstylist tomorrow. I'm going to ask her and see what she says. I'll let you know what I find out :)

Viva, I'd pick up a wet brush. I have noticed the difference it makes for me. Good luck!

I lost about 40% of my hairs overall thickness over the course of 2 months when I was 18. Also went to dr who did blood tests and they showed nothing was wrong. I had been working for a total b*tch for 5 years up until that point, then I quit and my hair stopped falling out. I'm convinced it was stress related.

Try taking biotin. It helped a lot with hair loss for my sister.

Victoria, it sounds like it truly was stress related. Glad you feel better now.
