Hello
It is my first time writing on this page but I visit the page quite often. I am intermediate to advanced on applying makeup since I have been learning the techniques of makeup for about 2 years now, but, now I am trying to expand to new different types of makeup palettes but I have not been able to buy makeup palettes yet due to lack of dinero. But, now I have worked out financials so I have tried the Naked palettes (including the color one) but I am trying to figure out which palettes (whether high end or drugstore) are best to buy. I prefer warm/cool eyeshadow as well as the occasional pop of color. Now, I have been looking at the LORAC 1 and 2 palette for a while as well as the KVD palette but I am quite unsure which palette to buy. Can anyone help me?
Oh, I am African American woman in the late 20's with dark complexion with cool undertones with a color range of NC 50 in MAC foundation color range. Oh, my eyes are dark brown.

If you don't mind spending, have you thought about making a custom pallatte? I'm doing a 15 pan mac one and am really taking my time to pick all my shades so I know I'll use them all. So far I have Shroom, Patina, Brun, Cranberry, Naked Lunch, Twinks, Sumptuous Olive and Carbon. And I've got my eye on a few others.
It is more expensive than premade but you can build it slowly and know you'll get use out of every colour!

Hi Cassandra, welcome to Beautylish! I absolutely love the Lorac pro palettes, I've found a way to use every color and their pigmentation and they blend so well. I personally don't like the Naked palettes, especially since I've tried the Lorac and other brands it's just not worth the money to me in my opinion. I also really enjoy the KVD palettes, did you have a specific one in mind? I do agree that building your own palette is always a great option, I do have a few MAC ones and loved them until I tried Makeup geek eyeshadows, I still use my mac but I don't know if I'd purchase more for two reasons, I think I have enough lol and makeup geek is much more inexpensive and most of then I prefer over my mac shadows. With makeup geek, you can buy a Z palette on their website or here on Beautylish (amazing customer service & very fast shipping) & then buy the single MUG shadows and create your own palette. They have many different colors and finishes to choose from & this way you can purchase only the ones you want where as a pre filled palette you may end up with colors you'd never use. I'm not home right now but I'd be happy to list my favorite shades from makeup geek when I get home for you.

I just bought the Lorac Pro Palette 2 and I love it. It's perfect for a smoky look and it's great for cool undertones. It's very pigmented. I love the naked palettes. The vice palette is pretty awesome too.

I have the first Lorac PRO palette and I've found it to be the one I've gone to the most. It's so versatile. I've also had my eyes on Lorac's limited edition matte and metal shadow palettes as well, they look quite lovely. KvD's Shade & Light palette looks nice and I've had my eyes on it (and I LOVE her shadows), but if I had to pick between that one and the Lorac palettes, I'd definitely lean towards Lorac, simply because of versatility and getting more for your money.

For a cheaper one, I have to say that the Loreal LA Nudes palettes are pretty good as well. I was pleasantly surprised when I used them today.

Thank you ladies. Sarah N, I would for you to list me some favorite shades since I have heard about makeup geek but never purchased none. Also, I do like the Vice palette @Stephanie G. But I might try it though.

Lorac Pro, hands down. If I had to only own one palette for my entire life, it would be that one. The shades are buttery and highly pigmented, and it has the best mix of neutral with some pops. The copper shade Garnet is so beautiful, it's a reason to buy the palette in and of itself. Also, at $42, it's incredibly well priced for the quality and quantity you're getting. The Nakeds are fun, but they're pretty one note - you're either choosing warm, cool, pink, or smoke.
