So I suck at painting my nails. I don't get it on my skin, but on my nails the polish is uneven and textured. Any ideas on how to do it better? Thank you ladies :)

There could be multiple problems causing the Polish to be uneven. First of all, is the polish old? Old polish can be thick and goopy, making it impossible to apply smoothly. Secondly, are you apply the coats too fast? You need to paint thin coats, and make sure you allow each coat to thoroughly dry before moving on. This prevents the previous coat from dragging and creating an uneven paint job. The third problem could be with your Nails themselves. Are they buffed and clear of debris? The ridges on your Nails can create a bumpy mani. And if your Nails aren't clear of oils or dirt, the Polish can't apply evenly.
Hope this helps!

Don't spend too much time trying to smooth it out because you it will start drying and ending up with an uneven texture and noticeable brush strokes.
Try to add thin layers at a time. It's easier to add a coat or two more than to add a thick coat and then only the top dries making your nails easily smudged or dented.

Strokes, not coats.

The picture that Aurora posted is how I do it and it's so much easier. I also had one polish that had like a wide brush and you could do it in one stroke.

I've found that the brush you use to apply can alter the way it applies significantly. For an easier application try and go for a polish that has a more flat, paddle like brush, rather than a blunt, rounded one.
There are quite a few brands that have a brush like this, my favourite is the sally Hansen miracle gel polishes, really nice brush, helps a lot with application , and the polish lasts soooo long!
