There's been a couple confirmed cases of lice in my kids school, I was wondering what steps I can take to be proactive in keeping my kids and house lice free. any tips would be beneficial!!

If anything I think the safest full proof method would be to just not let your kids go to school. however I totally understand if that's not a valid option since skipping school isn't the best. So I would say buy some lice shampoo and have your kids take a shower immediately after coming home to prevent the spread of any lice that may be on them. Also I would also wash their clothes as well as soon as possible with as minimal contact to furniture, pets, family members as possible.

I've had lice like 3 times when I was a kid it was sooooo bad. I've heard lavender essential oil will keep them away. Put a dab behind the ears and on the neck. Its also super improtant to tie their hair unless its too short. Like never leave long hair down!! I also think that drying clothes can get rid of them but I'm not entirely sure... Thats what we do at work (youth center) to prevent bed bugs and lice. My mom used to also use this spray kinda like febreeze but especially for lice that you can use on couches and stuff to avoid them from living om those surfaces.

Hey raylene... lice is a mess really I would say put some anti lice oil on kids hair... And some anti lice shampoo and regularly check their heads... lice can stick on hair and then produce eggs so..shower antilice oil and shampoo can help.

Tie up your kids hair in a pony tail or braid so that they have a less chance of getting it.

I used to work in a kids salon the best thing to do is only shampoo once a week no more than twice if you can help it lice like dry hair and use preventive products they have shampoo conditioner styling products and Spray putting their hair up at school helps make sure they know not to share jackets or hats either...my favorite that has helped my daughters is a organic spray called ladibugs mint spray good for their scalp hair and cloths or bedding I even spray their car seats!

Make a spray of lavender oil, tea tree oil, vinegar and water. Spray this on the hair everyday and the lice will be gone because they do not like the smell

I had a huge group of family in one house and we kept passing it back and fourth to each other, so my mom put some lice shampoo in the family shampoo and we just all used that for a while until we were sure it was gone. Probably a good idea for your family for a few weeks, since your kids could bring it home at any time, even a month from now (since lord knows who gave it to who in class and who's taking care of it at home and all that mess. It's preventative). The oil behind the ears sounds like it'll work, so google that too. And maybe keep your kids brushes separate and in sealable plastic baggies for a while and inspect them every day, and boil them if you find something or at least once a week, to kill any that might have snuck home.

Oh my goodness thank you Jessica that seems like such a good idea!! I never thought about separating brushes and such. and that must have been a long grueling time for your family. I feel you guys we had fleas once... yea, fleas haha they were chicken fleas. my dog brought them in from the coop and we had no idea what was going on. we thought bed bugs but that didn't work so moved onto lice but that didn't work finally we took a bug to the doctors and he's like its a flea.. so we went to the vet and sure enough we had chicken fleas! I had no idea there were different types of fleas! but that was a brutal few weeks haha so I feel you.

Yeah, it was actually a few months that we battled that. My family of five on one floor, and my aunts family of three on the lower, and we all shared the same bathroom and shower. One of us would finally kick it, and then we found it on someone else! It was awful! I even accidentally passed it on to a friend and her family (she used my brush at school without asking first :/ )

So yeah, it's all about isolation of different peoples belongings and preventative measures. That's the only way to get ahead of it. Google DIY preventative measures against lice invasion, and try just about anything. Good luck! I hope you guys kick it soon! 💟
