I have the nutiva brand and it is a faint smell of coconut because it's an oil not the actual meat of the coconut. It fades away quickly after applied.

Yes it should smell like coconut, but a mild aroma. Color should be White when solid (cold temperature) and clear when melted.

I buy my Coconut oil from Urtekram and it smells like nothing! If you really put your nose in it then it have a tiny bit of smell but nothing more. And thats 100% organic and cold pressed.

I don't think its should smell more like coconut than it does - non of the brands I have tried have had more spell - And if you smell a freshly cracked coconut it doesn't have a crazy strong smell either :) I think sometimes, they add smell so it smell more like coconut.

You should :) The rules in denmark is insanely stricked and a company can not write its 100% pure if its not :)

We grow coconuts here and my oils never smelled of them, not even the coconut smells when we crack them open! I know what you mean, I've bought coconut oil thats smelled of coconut but I think they just add fragrance :/

Like I said its a MILD aroma, it's not very strong at all but I can smell it and quickly disappears of applied to something cooked in, etc. But the scent is there if you sniff it lol.

My own doesn't smell of coconut either, but occassionally, I think I smell a faint odor and it passes, so it's probably psychological..lol
If you are new to Coconut Oil, I'd advise against heating it when it gets solid and instead warm it in your hands or you can scoop some into a container and surround it with water on the hot side to soften it up. You want to use one that's unrefined. I agree many natural products include fragrance..even if they are nature based, so I wouldn't be surprised if some companies were adding scent.

I agree with Kitty! That "coconut" smell we are used to smells nothing like real coconuts. Its a very mild smell so it wouldn't impress me that in the process of turning it into oil it loses its smell.
