The title pretty much says it. I have about and inch and a half of outgrowth at my roots but I don't see any length added to my hair. I never really see any shedding unless I'm brushing my hair. I don't tug at my hair either. I usually brush small sections starting at the bottom and moving up. What can I do? I really don't want to cut it I just don't feel like myself without long hair. I usually have extensions in but I had to take them out because I'm getting surgery on my shoulder next week. Any tips?

When I see breakage in my hair I can usually spot it, have a look throughout your hair and see if there's and white gaps towards the ends of your hair, not split ends, like a spot where it looks like where if you would pull it, it'd snap off. I don't really know how else to explain it, I still have a bit of breakage from when my hair was silver a year and a half ago even though I grew it out and haven't dyed it since. I need a trim really bad at this point, and really having a small trim will really help. There's no need to get heaps cut off just ask for a micro trim :)

I see some white but it's mostly frayed and split. I think I'm going to go in for a small trim tomorrow. Maybe this will help! Thank you Shaye M!

Shaye, always with the great advice! Keep up with micro trims so you don't lose length as Shaye suggested and pick up some Organic, Cold Pressed Extra Virgin Coconut Oil. It works wonders alternated with deep conditioning hair masks. Wash with cooler water, sulfate free shampoo and air dry when you can. Consider foam rollers or braids to sleep on for curls and waves. A little Argan Oil on tips helps as well, but never before applying heat tools! Use a great heat protectant if you go that route. I'd also pick up a wet brush for about $8. Good luck!

Do you have an suggestions for a good sulfate free shampoo? Every one I have ever tried dries my hair out terribly. If it helps I have extremely dry curly hair. My hair soaks up any bit of moisture and seems like it never gets any less dry. I'll be running out for some coconut oil this week! I've also been using a deep conditioner and leaving it in my hair over night I do this once a week.

Oh also my curls have turned to frizzy half curls half waves I'm assuming it's because I straightened them so much and my hair is extremely dry.

I use Pravana Light, but that's for blondes. I do love Pureology and Joico though and it is often at TJ Maxx in a big pump on sale. You should ask our mod Hannah about this directly. She has a list of incredible hair helping goodies.

I like the moisture recovery. If TJ Maxx is out, Ulta carries it! The Loreal Hair Mask Hannah recommended is the bomb. I also love Pravana Nevo Leave in conditioner and It's a 10, but the ladies may have other leave - ins they love.

Haili did you get your damaged hair trimmed? I started using Pro Naturals Hair Repair System after my hair was damage ends (probably caused by exposure to radiotherapy). I started in December 2014, trimmed all the damaged ends and followed Pro Natural;s 4-step regime. It worked well for my hair and I still use it. The shampoo is sulphate free "Ingredients: Aqua, Cocamidopropyl betaine an organic compound derived from coconut oil, Polyquaternium 10 Antistatic Agent, Hair Fixative, Citric Acid, Argania spinosa kernel oil (Argan Oil)." I hope this info helps a little. I use the argan oil leave in treatment after every shampoo and I find it is an excellent heat protectant as I shampoo & style roughly every 3 days.
