I hear coconut oil is good for your hair and for your skin as well...has anyone ever tryed this and had good results? I follow a makeup page on Facebook and that seems to be very popular.

I use coconut oil on my hair about once every 2 weeks :) While I bleached my hair I did it every week! I think its a wonderful product for hair as long as you make sure its 100% organic and coldpressed!
It makes my hair very soft and shiny!

All the time.
We were just recently discussing it in detail right here in the forum.
This should be of help and answer many of your questions.

I'm not crazy about it for my hair. I have thick hair that tends to get oily at the roots but the texture is very fine.

For my hair type, I didn't care for it. Even with washing it out with shampoo well, it would make my hair flat looking.

If your hair texture is similar to mine, I have really enjoyed this product.

I absolutely love it! It is my holy grail of products. I use it as a deep conditioning treatment (the only thing is you have to make sure it's 100% out of your hair), as a body moisturizer, even as a facial moisturizer! I used to buy $20 moisturizers in the hopes that it'd help my dry face. Everything that moisturized my skin ended up breaking me out terribly. Coconut has saved my hair and skin! :)

Yes if you heat up raw organic coconut oil and massage it into your hair and let it soak in for an hour. And then wash like normal. My hair gets super soft after I do this!

I only use it as a sealant during the winter months. And I have to be careful to not apply at the root or else I have a beast of time removing it during my deep cleanse which I do once a month.

Make sure it's unrefined.

I never do my roots either Shelley. I also alternate it with deep condition hair masks.

Love coconut oil in my hair! I use it instead of conditioner and my hair is sooo healthy.

I use Coconut oil as a hair mask and leave it in for a good hour before I wash my hair. I massage it into my scalp and roots first and then apply it all over the length of my hair. I leave it in for a good bit of time and then use shampoo to wash it out. I don't follow with conditioner after using coconut oil as a mask as my hair tends to get quite greasy. I would use it as a mask once a week and it leaves my hair soft, shiny and healthy! :-)

I am an Indian and we use coconut oil not only for our hair but also for cooking :D
I've tried it a couple of times on my hair n yes it does wonders for hair especially if you really admire long hair. And if you have dry skin it works pretty well. Coconut oil is like the best gift from nature and we also respect coconut trees :)

I have very fine and thin hair. It seems to be working only when applied to damp/wet hair and left overnight. If it is less than couple of hours I do not see any difference. For the face I found out it causes my skin to break-out. but I love to use it for my hands and lips.

Yes! My roots tend to get oily, so I stick to midshaft to the ends. Warm up some water in the microwave, then put about 2 tsp of coconut oil (dependent upon how long your hair is) into a smaller dish and set it in the warmed up water to melt. Then work it through your hair. I cover my head with a shower cap or a plastic bag for about 30-45 minutes, then wash out.
