Purple hair?! Say what??!!

So here is the deal. I currently dye my hair a blackish- plum, which I like but I wish it would have a more purple tone to it than maroon. If I were to say put manic panic or something of that nature onto the dark hair would it give it the tone? I'm not going to bleach my hair and I'm not wanting punk purple. But more of a dark grape? Thanks for the help!

Manic panic SHOULD leave a good tint.

I use directions semi permanent and that leaves a great tint =]

I use manic panic vampire red without bleaching and this is what it looks like. I love it. Also I haven't done it in months. I really need to redo haha.

Be advised it fades fast. This is manic panic purple haze after about 2 weeks. Worked for me I wanted pastels, so I assume on non bleached hair it would wash out faster.
