I have a pretty nasty scar from a car accident and I want to know if there's anything I can use to help it fade? I'm willing to try anything!

I've heard good things about Mederma. Some people recommend vitamin e for scars. There's a few other threads here from a while back that have other suggestions too.

I have a scar on my chin from crashing my bike, I was able to get it to fade pretty well by using Vitamin E (you cut open the capsules and smear it on), and these silicone scar pads. Usually you can get them at the drug store, near the bandaids.
Don't fade it too much though... scars are kinda cool! ;)

They have silicone patches that can fade the appearance as well Ipl and laser will work. I've done laser and Ipl and the results are great. They shrink in size and the color fades dramatically. It also depends on the scar as well. How deep it is, if its a keloid. Some drug store products won't work if the scar isn't fairly new, larger or fairly deep.

My sister had Spinal Fusion surgery and she had a 24 inch dark red scar going down the length of her back, and Mederma cleared it up almost completely! It's amazing stuff. She also put Aloe Vera on it after showered before the Mederma. It went from almost a burgundy color to a very light almost unnoticeable pink. :)

I have a red scar on my face, I just started yesterday at that, putting Lemon Juice on the scar, twice a day! It may sting but since using it twice yesterday and once today so far I've seen a dramatic difference in what it did look like! If you have sensitive skin try diluting it with water. Good Luck!

A dr can resurface many scars via laser which breaks up the adhesions in the skin.

Definitely go with Mederma! I have 6 scars from a few surgeries and I rubbed in Mederma on them twice a day for a little while, and two of them are now completely gone! It is wonderful :)

Oh and just for comparison to your scar looks (however it looks) and how well it will fade it, mine were 3 months old at the least, flat, and dark/medium purple to begin with.

Most importantly if you can help do not expose to sun light it will help it to fade faster. if you do put sun screen on.
