so I woke up with a cold sore today "/ I have gotten cold sores since I was a little girl and I was wondering how many others are affected by these nasty things and how you girls deal with them and still feel "pretty" with them because every time I get one I feel so disgusting and embarrassed and don't even wanna leave the house !!!

I've been getting them since I was little too! I had the flu this week and I woke up this morning with two huge outbreaks on my chin! Stupid immune system... I take Valtrex (Valcyclovir) when I feel one coming on and that usually stops it, but if it pops up over night I am SOL. I am curious about the new Abreva conceal things at the drugstore that let you put makeup over the sore. Usually I just wear a more dramatic eye look to draw attention away from my chin and try not to worry about it. If anyone says anything about it (which they never have to me but if they did) I would say that I got bit by a spider while I was sleeping and had a reaction. Even though cold sores are nothing to be ashamed of--90% of the population is infected--people still have a lot of misconceptions about it that are really negative.
