Excellent
I really liked these, so when I received my first set, I purchased another. For $140 ($150 with tax), these brushes are basically $50 each. Surratt's flat eyeshadow brushes cost more, and are less dense. When washed, these brushes do bloom. The S1 at first is thin, but when washed blooms into a mini builder. The S2 when washed becomes a worker, fluffy and full. The S3 blooms a bit, but retains it's shape the most. I do wish the S3 was less dense and had more of a taper. I know that Sonia says this brush isn't a pencil brush, but it acts like a pencil brush more than a blending/crease brush. Sonia makes dense brushes. You get your money's worth here. But that isn't like a classic Fude eyeshadow brush shape from Koyudo, for example. Surratt also has flat squirrel brushes, and those retain their flatness, which makes them ideal for shade placement.
But these brushes are so special. To have a squirrel worker (S2) is fantastic. And to have a mini builder (S1) is ideal. I'm still surprised at what tasks the S3 can do. I can use the S3 on some more difficult Natasha shadows. I'm glad I got a second set before they sold out.
The two pictures attached are the washed first set on the left and the brand new unwashed brushes on the right. The second picture has (L to R) the Lotus Builder, Keyaki flat definer, S1, S2, Builder Pro, Worker Pro, and S3. I wanted to show how the S1 and S2 bloom after washing.
I Now Have 2 of These
I purchased the Lotus Set when it first launched, and promised myself I'd grab another if they were ever sold individually. This little brush can smoke out your eye, provide detailed crease work, inner eye work, and I've even used it to deepen my outer eye and crease. I also use it for brow bone highlight. Granted, it can be used as a blending tool, but it will take time to blend with it, so I use another brush as a blender. It is a very soft and lovely little detail brush. It washes and dries well and it hasn't shed on me at all.
Softer and Airier with Every Wash
I will forever recommend this brush as one of the top 2 face brushes of the Sonia G line up. The other brush is the mini cheek. These will not move any foundation under it, and give the perfect placement to blush, highlighter and even bronzer. And every single time I wash this brush, it becomes even more soft, airy and a joy to use.
Bought the Set and Came Back for the Builder
I purchased the Lotus Set when it first released, and knew I wanted a few "extra" brushes for backups. Sonia G said that the builder in this set is the same as the builder 3, which is an HG brush for many Sonia G lovers. I don't have any brushes from her Fundamental collection, so this brush was "new" to me. I know this brush packs a punch for hard to pick up pigments, so I wanted another. I LOVE the handles on this Lotus collection. They are lovely to hold and so pretty to look at. The tapering on this brush is lovely, and the density of the bristles really allows for precise pigment placement, with minimal/no fallout.
Wonderful Crease Brush
I love this as a crease brush, but it can honestly do all the eye work I need for a single look: inner eye, lid, crease, blend, and smoking out my lower lash line. I've already washed it twice, and I ordered this about a month ago. The tapered bristles do very fine work with no eye irritation. I love this brush so much. This was my first Edit brush from WG, but it won't be my last. For reference, I have smaller hooded eyes, and this is perfect for me.
Love The Set
This comes in the most amazing pink box. The bag is nice and large for a 3 piece set. It can hold far more than 3 brushes. The large brush is very soft and works well as a cheek brush. The eyeshadow brush is the perfect size for my smaller eye space, and it is very soft. And the brow brush is perfect for creating a more natural eyebrow look. I'm super happy I picked this up on sale. And of course the handles are so pretty.
I Bought Another Set
I have already reviewed this set before, but I couldn't help myself, I bought another set. The set on the left is my original set, now washed twice. Oh my, does that larger brush fluff out! And the smaller brush expands into the softest brush as well. The larger brush allows me to stamp bronzer exactly where I want it, and the smaller brush applies blush precisely as well. I do not believe these will be permanent brushes in her collection, so I bought another. These are the freshly washed brushes on the right. I have no regrets. And I'm keeping the crane paper from both shipments. Thank you, Sonia and Beautylish.
Shocked at How Perfectly These Worked
Please wash these brushes after receiving them. They fluff up, bloom, and take on the most lovely shape. The larger brush was perfection in applying bronzer. It was the perfect size for my face shape. I bought this set for the smaller brush, and I wasn't let down by this little perfect brush at all. I applied my blush with great precision, and then my highlighter. I'm so happy with these brushes that I actually want to grab another set. I must resist! The one negative that I have is that these are no longer shipped with the stamp that designates them as "Kumano Fude." Kind of a bummer. These brushes also were wrapped in the prettiest crane printed paper. I kept the paper, as I just loved it. What a thoughtful touch.
This palette makes me want the other new release palette
I have been using highlighter (ones that are very sheer and compliment my skin tone) all over my cheeks for about a year now. But Wayne took it to the next level with his advice to layer the highlighter UNDER the blush. It really does give my 53 year old skin that lit from within glow. I love to take the highlighter and pop some on my lids as well. The main worry I have is the 9 month shelf life of the product. I know I won't be able to use this up in 9 months. I have way too many other palettes I like to play with. The blush is buildable and I'm super happy that it is a matte blush. It compliments the highlighter perfectly. I'm seriously trying to hold off buying the other palette now. But this one is perfect for me. I have fair skin with a rosy under tone.
Struggling to Not Purchase Another
When I purchased the Classic Base of her Fusion series, I really wanted a brush that I could use with powder products. And in a way, that was my fault: Sonia G specifically said that the Classic Base was better suited for creams and liquids rather than powders. I live in a powder world. That is my lane. I love a finely milled powder foundation. Her Face One and Smooth Buffer are too harsh to really provide a smooth base. They just don't work for my needs. Chikuhodo makes squirrel and fox brushes that meet my foundation needs well. Wayne Goss and his latest holiday brush are perfect for powder foundation. Master Face had always been on my wishlist to try, and yes it wasn't necessary for me to try, since I had found other powder foundation brushes. However, I'm happy to write that this brush was the one brush from her collection that filled my powder foundation needs. It is so very soft, it glides across the skin, it fits into those tight, hard to reach and cover spaces. It leaves behind a soft focus finish without any harsh lines. This is what I had wanted from the Classic Base. I'm sure this could also be used for blush, bronzer and a finishing effect, but I have other brushes for those tasks. Of all of Sonia's large face brushes, I recommend this one and the Face Pro. Her Mini Cheek is a hidden gem. If Sonia ever releases the Lotus Detail individually, grab it. Those 4 brushes, IMHO, are her finest. I don't have her Niji yet, but might grab it one day. Meanwhile, I'll happily enjoy this beauty.
