Beauty Product Reviews

I wish I could send it in a time machine to my high school self

I remember how much I searched for the perfect, inexpensive nude lipstick...I mean really nude lipstick. It seemed like I'd always end up with shades that are too shimmery, too pink, too dry, etc.

This lipstick would have been absolutely perfect. The Natural Nymph shade is very light in tone, none-shimmery, not dry, nothing crazy...just perfectly nude. And if doesn't show any sign of being cheap, except for the price! Would pair great with a smoky eye.

The only reason I'm not giving it five stars is because, though it's a great lipstick, I'm mostly gushing over the shade, which is objective.

Perfectly Subdued and Unpowdery

I ordered two shades--Caffeinated and Celebrity---and love them both.

I'm not a fan of glittery makeup, and though these have apparent shimmer, they are perfectly subdued. The way it kind of sinks into skin makes this shimmery shadow seem a little more natural--not powdery at all.

I use a loose eye shadow blending brush to apply a small amount, starting in the crease, and with quick and short motions, spread to the lid.

I plan to order more shades and continue to wear most days.

Beautiful.

A year or two ago, I was searching for the perfect shade of grey nail polish. It wasn't trendy back then, so it was very hard to find. I'm also an American Apparel die hard, and so when I found that I discovered not only the perfect shade of grey nail polish, but nail polish by American Apparel, I melted.

It is a very smooth application. And though I did brush on a few coats, the same rich color that I could see through the bottle came out on my nail on the first layer. It lasted awhile without chipping too (like a month), though I should mention that I only paint my toes nails which tend to last longer.

I just brushed on two or three coats, and then brushed on a a topcoat ( try Revlon Nail Care Quick Dry Polish http://btyl.sh/Ts2kbY → ). Perfect.

I also bought the Hunter shade, which chipped away quicker (like a week) but provided a perfect rich coat while it lasted.

Exactly.

It does exactly what it says: provides a glossy, hard top coat that dries quickly. Make sure to wait for the bottom coats to dry.

Not much else to say. It's the only topcoat I use.

The Perfect Moisturizer.

I am devoted to this product. I've had a struggle finding a facial lotion that won't make me breakout or make my face shiny, but also provide a soft and even base for my skin. This is the one, man.

It smells perfectly mild, though fresh and delightful. I have occasional acne (like a few breakouts during my period), and it doesn't clog my pores or increase my issues.

If you have oily skin and steer clear of facial lotions, you should know that the perfect lotion actually helps with an oily complexion and breakouts. You see, our skin secretes oils when it feels dry, and the often times the oils end up mixing with the pollution in the air and the dirt all around that it ends up sticking and clogging pores and causing breakouts. This lotion is oil free and balanced, so by replacing those oils with a lotion like this H20 + Marine Daily Hydrator, you proactively steer clear of clogged pores and breakouts and oil and all of that shit.

I actually got it at Marshall's for $5, so just know that you don't have to pay the $22 base price. I think it's on Amazon for like $10. You really need to try this product.

My go-to loose powder.

As we head into fall and winter, I'll probably place this product in the back of the makeup drawer, but this product got me through those humid New York summers.

I used the Creamy Natural shade which was perfect for my light(ish), neutral tone. I always wore this over my favorite daily facial lotion (H20 Marine Daily Hydrator http://btyl.sh/R1TgNl → ) because it can go on dry skin a little powdery.

I have occasional acne (a few breakouts around my period), and it didn't make it worse or better. It also somehow got rid of redness and impurities withough masking my freckles, which is stellar.

And, it's organic! Which trumps a lot for me.

A superb daily mascara.

I was drawn to this mascara because of the fact that it's organic, which is a huge priority of mine. I use the Ultra Black shade. I don't really see myself switching over to anything else for daily wear.

The packaging is a little goofy, but who cares. The product itself goes on smooth, is build-able, and does the trick of lengthening and thickening the appearance of lashes.

My only complaints are the packaging (which is taste thing) and that it's not water/smudge proof, but if it meant adding chemicals and diminishing it's organic status, I wouldn't want that.

Also Perfect.

First, see my reveiw of Nature's Gate Daily Shampoo, because everything I said about it applies to Nature's Gate Biotin Strengthening Shampoo too → http://btyl.sh/PNCQvd

This shampoo is even better. It really does leave my hair feeling a little thicker and shinier. I don't see myself ever switching over to any other product (though I may continue to dabble in other Nature's Gate shampoos).

Perfect.

Using natural and organic products (and food) is very important to me, but normally, shampoo's without all those harsh chemicals leave my roots heavy and my hair flat. Nature's Gate Herbal Daily Shampoo leaves my hair airy and clean without the sulfates and the other drying and icky chemicals. And for the amount and quality you get, the $6 to $8 price tag is great.

After trying the daily shampoo, I though I'd try other shampoo's by the same brand. See my review of Nature's Gate Biotin Strengthening Shampoo here http://btyl.sh/TrYEXN →
