The Bliss Fabulips ‘Pout’-O-Matic!

I got a funny little box in the mail today. A little blue-and-white box, which opened up to reveal a little blue and white gadget labeled the “Bliss ‘Pout’-O-Matic.”  A Pout-O-Matic? What was it? What did it do? I was already excited!

The back of the Bliss Fabulips ‘Pout’-O-Matic box says the Pout-O-Matic is a device for anyone who must have beautiful lips. It’s designed to gently but thoroughly exfoliate your lips, leaving them super-soft and hydrated. Cool! Along with the gadget (which looks like a mod electric toothbrush with a tiny rubber head), the package also includes a little pot of Fabulips lip scrub, a replacement head, and a single AAA battery.

I popped the battery into the gadget and looked at the instructions. They couldn’t have been simpler.

Step 1: Cover lips with the Fabulips sugar lip scrub. (It smells like a vanilla birthday cake and feels like slippery sand on your lips.)

Step 2: Turn on the Pout-O-Matic and gently move its spinning head in a circular motion around your (closed) lips for 30 seconds. (This feels like the world’s most delicate sandpaper is tickling your lips.) P.S. the Fabulips sugar scrub might smell delicious, but it does not taste as much like vanilla birthday cake as you might think.

Step 3: Turn off the Pout-O-Matic, wipe the excess sugar scrub off your lips, and wipe any remaining product off the gadget with a damp washcloth.

There’s a really important Step 4 that is not mentioned: Make sure you have a moisturizing lip balm on hand to put on afterwards, because you’re going to need it stat. All that exfoliating means your lips need moisture immediately!

How did it work?

The first few seconds after I tried this treatment, I was disappointed. Sure, my lips were soft, but they weren’t that soft. Not gadget-purchasing-immediately soft. “Hmph,” I said as I swanned out of the bathroom, lip balm soaking into my lips. And then, as I continued to rub my lips against each other, it hit me: my lips were soft. Really soft. Yes. They definitely felt way softer than they had before. I had started with “it’s about to be winter in Chicago” lips! And now they were like little pillowy smooth cushions. This was great!

But the real test was yet to come: How well would my lipstick go on after doing this treatment?

I grabbed my rms Lip2Cheek in Smile and slicked some on. BOOYAH. It glided on. We are talking the smoothest application of lipstick I have ever experienced. It was like haaaaaaaaaaaay here is how it feels to be a lip model, baby. No little rough patches, no flaking skin. I was loving it!

All in all, I’d say the Bliss Fabulips ‘Pout’-O-Matic is a luxury product for your lips, a very giftable and nifty gadget that actually works. It only does one very specific thing, but it does it very well. Nothing you can’t live without, of course, but a treat when you’re in the mood to splurge!
