The Best DIY Hair Treatment Made from Unlikely Ingredients
Published Mar 16, 2014
Tomorrow is St. Patty’s Day! If your fridge is already stocked with holiday essentials, you may have everything you need for this DIY from Alexis Wolfer, founder and editor-in-chief of The Beauty Bean and author of the forthcoming book The Recipe for Radiance. Turns out that six-pack you just picked up may hold the secret to super-shiny, full hair.
That’s because beer is loaded with antioxidants like yeast and hops which replenish the hair shaft, while malt hydrates. And when paired with sour cream, the alcohol in your favorite brew helps break up product buildup that can weigh locks down. “It only takes 20 minutes to whip up and work its magic—a small price to pay for full hair,” says Alexis of this clarifying toner. Try it out tonight!
Stout & Sour Cream Hair Clarifying Toner
You Will Need
- 1 cup Guinness (or any dark beer)
- 1 cup sour cream
Combine beer and sour cream and mix thoroughly. Apply all over, from the scalp to the ends, and leave in for approximately 15 minutes. Shampoo and rinse.
