The 7-Step Massage Your Skin Will Thank You For

1462

Streamlining your beauty routine is always a good idea, but once in awhile, you gotta give your skin some extra TLC, even if it slaps on five extra minutes. (Not to mention anything you do to improve your complexion overall is going to save you skin care time in the long run, right?) One easy thing you can do to treat your skin to a little love is a DIY facial massage. This seven-step lymphatic technique, was created by Eve Lom—founder of the eponymous brand—to be used with her renowned Cleanser. Lom believes that the technique improves blood circulation, muscle tone, and lymphatic drainage, all of which helps to eliminate toxins and leave dull, congested skin looking brighter, firmer, and more clear.

EVE LOM Cleanser is formulated as a 4-in-1 product: it moisturizes, cleanses, exfoliates, and tones. So even on the days you’re adding the massage into your routine, you’re still eliminating steps with this product. A fair trade if you ask us, especially given it only takes a few minutes, twice a week (Lom recommends doing this twice weekly at night, as part of your cleansing routine). Follow along—you’ll be happy you did! You can thank us later when you’re skin is glowing more than it ever has. And did we mention it feels amazing and really relieves tension?

You Will Need

EVE LOM Cleanser, plus the included muslin cloth

1: Massage cleanser into your entire face and neck (with makeup on, as you’ll remove it in the process). Using the pads of your fingertips, apply pressure behind your ears, slowly circulating down toward the collarbone. Repeat three times.

2: Place your fingers in the center of your forehead as pictured, press firmly, hold for a count of five, and then release. Repeat, working from the middle of the forehead out, and finish at your temples.

3: Place fingers (minus your pinkies) under your eyes on either side of your nose. The hands will almost be flat against the face. Apply pressure, hold for a count of five, and release. Move fingers down slightly, and repeat. Continue in small steps until you reach the jawline.

4: Place two fingers above your upper lip, press firmly, and hold a count of five, then release. Continue working out until you reach the corners of the mouth. Repeat three times.

5: Spread your fingers out right under your cheekbones, press, hold for a count of five, then release. Move fingers down slightly, and repeat. Continue in small steps until you reach the jawline.

6: Put thumbs under your chin with fingers fanned out on top. Press, hold for a count of five, then release. Move fingers up and out slightly and repeat. Continue working along the jawline and finish right under the ears.

7: Lastly, dip your muslin cloth in hot water and wring out. Unfold it and gently hold it across the entire face, as you take a deep breath through your nose. Keep the muslin in place for 7 to 10 seconds. Repeat three times. Rinse the cloth, and then use it to remove all remaining cleanser and makeup using a circular motion. Rinse the cloth in cold water, then apply to the face.

TIP: If you get puffy eyes in the morning, try doing step 3 while cleansing or putting on moisturizer—it can really help to drain excess fluid and depuff!
