DIY Holiday Skin Pick-Me-Up

796

While the holidays are often full of fun and excitement, they can also be full of stress. Between all the eating, drinking, and traveling, it might be safe to say that—at least at the moment—what was once your daily routine is now a distant memory. But when your schedule is packed, the last thing you should do is neglect your skin. With that in mind Jamie Ahn, owner and creative director of Townhouse Spa and Acqua Beauty Bar in NYC, designed a DIY skin pick-me-up with ingredients you’re bound to have in the kitchen already. With cranberry, mint, and coconut oil,  this scrub smells good enough to eat (though, it’s not recommended!).

Cranberries have been known to help heal skin, eczema, psoriasis, and even acne. Pair this healing fruit with nourishing coconut oil, exfoliating brown sugar, and refreshing mint—and you have a treatment guaranteed to give you an instant glow. It’s the perfect way to prep for any holiday soirée!

You Will Need

1/2 cup fresh or frozen cranberries
6 mint leaves
1 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup coconut oil

In a blender or food processor, blend the cranberries and mint until you have a smooth pulp; add sugar and combine. Heat the coconut oil in a pan until it liquefies, then pour in the bowl with the rest of the ingredients and stir until thoroughly mixed. Once mixture cools to lukewarm, apply to the face and let sit for at least 10 minutes. Pour the remaining scrub into a zip-seal bag, and store in the fridge for up to one week. Run it under hot water for a minute before each application.

Makes 6–10 applications.
