Q & A Indie Lee

**Q: How did the brand Indie Lee come to be? **

My sister was pregnant at the time with my nephew and I had a brain tumor. All of these things happening at once made me look at ingredients and the toxins that we all put on our bodies. The thought of putting toxins on my new born baby nephew's tush was terrible. I made products for my nephew and brought them to the baby shower. Other pregnant women were there and wanted to try them as well and I thought, "I can do this."

Q: Tell me about indielee.com.

It was so important for me to teach people about what's in your products, so I wanted to make indielee.com a place where people can discuss and learn. I think it's really important for people to know that they can reach out to me, feel connected,  and ask me questions. I'm just another girl who went on a mission to find out about ingredients. In the end, it's all about getting back to basics and it doesn't need to be that difficult. Why not give your body what it needs? That's what I'm trying to tell others.

Q: What's the number one beauty product from your line that you think people should be using on a regular basis?

That would be our Coconut Citrus Scrub. It came about in the winter because I have very dry skin and most scrubs use salt, which is very drying. I substituted salt with sugar, and mixed it with coconut and jojoba oil (which is great for the skin and has a good shelf life)—it smells like a vacation on your body! People even ask me if it's okay to eat it! I tell them yes, but I'm not sure they'd like to.

Q: I've started noticing fine lines and I know that there's a lot of desire for all-natural products to get rid of wrinkles. Do you have anything that can help?

Aging is part of life—you can't run from it. Beauty starts from within, and I'm not going to be one of those people who won't smile because I don't want wrinkles on my face. At the age of 23, your body changes and you start getting wrinkles. We have a facial serum that can help. I found out about this apple tree and learned that if you scrape its bark, it starts to repair itself. Even if you cut a piece of an apple from it, it does the same thing. We found that this tree helps regenerate cells, and that is what we included in our serum.

Q: How is it being a mom and a business woman?

Having my kids around has helped me 100% with the brand. They always want Mommy, but it reminds me that it's not always about work all the time and there has to be a balance. You look at the world so differently when you're told you're not going to live anymore. It reminded me about how precious things are and that you can sit and laugh at this whole experience. It's important for me to be a role model for my children and to go after what I'm passionate about. They know Mommy is serious about what's going on in terms of awareness of ingredients and what you're putting on your skin. In the end, I want to know that what my daughter is putting on her face is safe and healthy.

Q: Where do you usually go when you are researching to try out new products?

Truth be told, I go on Beautylish to find out about the latest beauty products. When I was looking for a flatiron for my hair, I went and read reviews about which one I should buy. I really think the site's such a great place for those who want to research products and for people who don't know how to put on makeup.

Q: Is there anything else that you'd like people to know?

You need to enjoy life for what it is and take care of your body. This isn't a dress rehearsal—you have to make it count. Life is precious, and people should live their lives to the fullest.
