Amy Adams
The Muppets Movie Hollywood Premiere, 2011
Amy Adams looked prim, proper, and gorgeous at Saturday's Hollywood premiere of The Muppets. Makeup artist Stephen Sollitto was inspired by Amy's fitted cream and red Roland Mouret dress when crafting the makeup look, creating a modern daytime version of old Hollywood makeup. "I didn't want her lips to match the skirt," said Stephen. "I wanted Amy to look like Amy. Nothing crying out for your attention—just gorgeous."

Stephen chose his color palette carefully to complement Amy's dress. He first started with the eyes using taupes and grays. He spread Chanel Ombre D'Eau Fluid Iridescent Eye Shadow in 60, a reflective taupe, on Amy's lids and dotted Chanel Ombre D'eau Fluid Iridescent Eye Shadow in 90 on her inner corners to open her eyes. He smudged Elizabeth Arden Smoky Eyes Powder Pencil in Gunmetal on the lash line, and set the deep matte gray shade with Jouer Powder Eye Shadow in Caviar, sweeping the shadow out from the corner of Amy's eyes. Stephen smudged Chanel Precision Eye Liner in Gris Scintillant 69 on the lower lash line and for subtle definition. For extra dimension, he traced the thinnest line of MAC Superslick Liquid Eye Liner in Black on the outer half of Amy's upper lash line. Two coats of Chanel Inimitable Mascara in 10 Black finished her eyes.
Stephen didn't want to compete with her outfit with a red lip, so he unexpectedly chose a paler, more demure lip to let her dress stand out. He loved the faded terracotta tone of Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in 34 Satin. "Pale enough for effect, yet enough pigment to show on the carpet," explained Stephen. After perfecting the lip color, Stephen dusted Chanel Joues Contraste Blush in Fandango 57 on cheeks.
