I'm so used to short nails in fact I hate long nails due to me playing basketball growing up I always kept my nails short. what I want to know is there a reason why they grow so quick and so long I can literally cut my nails and next week they are fully grown out and so long.

Blessed with good genetics hun. I am the same. Accept it coz when we're old and grey and our nails start chipping and not growing you'll look back and say, I was lucky. X.

My nails do the same. And if they get really long my nail beds start to hurt. Its crazy. But what's weird...they are super fragile...on the thin side so I have to keep a nail thickener on 'em. Nail files/clippers are constantly in use by me. Long nails just get in the way for me.

Found this on Wikipedia but who knows if it's true - take it with a grain of salt: In humans, nails grow at an average rate of 3 mm (0.12 in) a month.[13] Fingernails require three to six months to regrow completely, and toenails require 12 to 18 months. Actual growth rate is dependent upon age, sex, season, exercise level, diet, and hereditary factors. Nails grow faster in the summer than in any other season.[14] Contrary to popular belief, nails do not continue to grow after death; the skin dehydrates and tightens, making the nails (and hair) appear to grow.[15]

I do know, that for some reason, nails grow faster in the summer months. I can't remember why though! I have noticed it in my own nails,
