Is it a bad idea to get my hair relaxed?

I really don't think you should. If it's not really frizzy, then it's probably not that bad.

I don't know if you could use a hot oil treatment on your hair but you should do that first before you replace etc.I think

No.

This picture is old, and embarrassing. But the left is relaxed and the right is me just straightening with a flat iron... haven't relaxed my hair in years. It burns and leaves your hair worse.

The heat would probably break down some of the "extra texture" actually... I could see it working in the long run.

Yes, my dominican hair has been relaxed for a long time. It just burns. It looks really nice at first.. but every time you wash it - it's a handful of hair and the texture because very wiry. That was actually my hair on a GOOD day, the right was on a bad rainy day.
It also ends up frizzing up even easier. God forbid I could never make it through one hour at school. It looked like a lions mane or something lol.

I would also go to a salon and ask them what treatments they have. They have treatments just for frizz that don't end up ruining your hair. You could also get it thinned out. But the relaxer is just a bad idea in my opinion.

Omg no, as someone who has relaxed I really don't recommend!! if you want straight hair do keratin treatment, so much better for your hair, especially since keratin is what your hair is made of, it keeps your hair shiny and strong and beautiful, but be careful what keratin treatment you do, there are some really harsh ones.

Don't go to Sally's, go to a good salon. The people at Sally's don't always know what they're talking about.

You could also try using a good deep conditioner... something you have to leave on your hair for at least 30-45 minutes.

Be careful with keratin. If you're in a dry climate, using it often will make things worse.

Ever since I saw Chris Rock's documentary "Good Hair", I am concerned if I hear someone considering relaxing. If you haven't seen it, I implore you to view it before making your final decision. It's remarkably informative.

Relaxing your hair is only going to make your hair straight. people who use relaxers are people with coarse and extremely coiled or curly hair. I don't recommend it because it breaks your hair, burns your scalp and takes long for your hair to grow back , I know from experience

I agree with Mercedes about the Keratin Treatment! I'd look into it, if I were you especially since you have really amazing hair :) Good luck finding an answer!

Look into a keratin treatment, have it done by a professional though.
And please don't trust the employees at Sally's, you don't have to be a professional or even really know much about hair to work there, or any supply house in my area (to my knowledge).
