UK size conversion?

If I'm a size 00-0 in US would I be a size 4 in UK? Would 6 or 8 be really big? Also are River Island's pants true to size?

I did Google it. There's lots of websites that say a size 0 US converts to size 4 UK. But then other people say it's a size 6. That's why I was hoping someone from England could help.

I'm from Ireland and we use the same sizes.. what clothes are you thinking of buying? you could get away with a 6 but an 8 would be too big if you're a 4.

@Sandra It does but sometimes different brands have different size charts. Like I'm a size 00 in American eagle but I'm a 0 in Hollister. So I don't know if it's the same for River Island.
