Can anyone suggest the best lighting to take pictures in that actually capture the true colours of your eyeshadow/makeup?

natural lighting

Natural lighting for sure, straight in front of your window

I wouldn't use actual "natural light" as the weather won't be the same year round and that will make colors look different in photos. I'm the same color foundation year round and noticed when I take photos with natural lighting when it's cloudy everything actually looks lighter in photos then in person and it just not very consistent. I suggest buying light bulbs that give the "natural light" they aren't too yellow like incandescent lights and not too blue like fluorescent lights

Natural sunlight. The best times of day to do this is the morning or the sunset. Also, white lights are the best alternative. Many gurus and MUAs on Instagram have diva ring lights too (for an even distribution of light around the face)

Natural lighting is best IF you can get it. By the time I get home the sun is really high in the sky so the light is harsher on my face. But if I film videos or take pictures between 8am and 3pm I'm good.

This picture was taken on a sunny day around 11am.

While this one was taken at around 1pm on a slightly cloudy day. My face is still clear, but a little darker and not as crisp as the first picture.

There are also lightbulbs closer to natural light you can use, I just don't know the wattage or what they're called.

There's also the option of a flash bounce if you have a DSLR and are taking pictures at night. It'll bounce the light somewhere else so it's not directly in your face and you get a better lit space. The right bathroom lights and the correct camera light settings and you can get your colors to show up pretty well.
