Hi guys :(
so.
Before going to work or going out I always take extra time to make sure my makeup always looks good and neat.
However, after just an hour or two, when I check it again it always looks horrible. I'm not exaggerating, it always look like I've been running an hour on the treadmill. My face looks super shiny, the make up is runny and I just end up looking like I'm sporting last night's make up.
I've already tried using different types of "stay matte" makeup, but nothing seems to do the trick! I've tried fixing spray but I find that it really clogs my pores so I don't want to be using it every day.
What do you suggest I do?
It's just so frustrating when I see those girls with perfect make up all day every day, and in photos I always look so scrubby...it's demoralising because I really do put a lot of effort into doing my make up and I always get compliments on how it looks, but as soon as I step outside of the house it just goes to shit.
I'm 21 years old I don't like going around looking like I don't even know how to put on make up properly..
I know it sounds like I'm blowing this way out of proportion but it really does look sloppy :/
Any advice?

Primer, setting powder and setting spray all help my look to last all day long - I use hourglass primer, tarte smooth operator setting powder and skindinavia matte setting spray.

I use Covergirl 3 in 1 foundation with maybelline fit me powder to set it, and then I use urban decay all nighter setting spray and my makeup will stay looking the same for HOURS. I even went to gym after being out all day and I worked out for a couple hours and my makeup stayed COMPLETELY perfect.

1) L'Oreal Magic Lumi Primer (skinny white bottle; but this stuff is shimmery, so if you want a matte finish the I say don't use this)
2) I just use Hard Candy Glamoflauge Concealer and Mineral Powders (I love my Merle Norman Mineral Foundation or Bare Minerals) for everyday but if I want better coverage I use a foundation (I really like Clinique Even Better or Makeup Forever HD).
3) For eyeshadows I usually stick with higher end and I always use an eyeshadow primer (Milani, Urban Decay, or Too Faced) and my favorite eyeshadow brands are Urban Decay (love my Naked Palettes), Too Faced, Smashbox, or Kat Von D. Physicians Formula is drugstore but its one of my favorites.
4) For eyeliner I love L'Oreal Infallible and Kat Von D Liquid Eyeliner (I loveeee this stuff) and for mascara I recommend L'Oreal Butterfly Waterproof.
5) I normally only use setting sprays when I do a big look that I want to last but since you are having issues with staying power, I recommend using one. Urban Decay has great ones and Ben Nye also has a really good one. Nyx is good but I still like UD better
As far as other primers go I like Benefit PoreFessionals, Too Faced Primed and Poreless, BareMinerals
Prime Time, Nyx has some pretty good primers too. Hourglass is great but expensive.
And for setting powders I really like UD Naked Skin Loose Powder and Tarte.
The right brushes make a difference too. I really recommend Coastal Scents and BH Cosmetics just for basic brushes you'll need for eyes and powders. As for foundation goes though I love my Sephora Pro Airbrush #56, it looks flawless. And for powders I really like Elf Kabuki Brush.
And after applying eye makeup, take some powder and apply under and it will really help make your eyeliner and mascara last so much longer.
Its kind of difficult what products to suggest to you because everyones skin is different, so I would try samples before buying expensive products and read lots of reviews before deciding (I always check out makeupalley and sephora for product reviews).

Primers are very important and so are setting sprays. Maybe research good setting sprays that will best suite your skin type.

First, I clean my face with a specific cleanser for oily skin. Then, tone and moisturuze. I use Clinic 3 step or something like that.
Secondly, I use a primer. On my face and eyes.
Then, I use a foundation that has oil free formula. (Foundations from Sephora or YSL).
And finally, the product that I have been loving and the one who makes the difference. I'm Spanish and I don't know if in you country is any Kiko Make-up Milano store, there is where you can find this product. Is the Invisible Powder, Matifying fixing powder. Eliminates shine and sets make-up without drying out the skin. It isn't expensive 11?/14$ more or less. You really have to try this. It has become my favourite thing for shine. (I apply make-up at 7AM and I arrive home at 2PM and I don't have shine as before) And if you can't find this I'm sure that they will have something similar in Sephora or Make Up Forever.
Fast tip: Have by your side oil control papers!
