I work out regularly and sometimes dry shampoo doesn't cut it, so I wash it. I still don't wash it daily and I use color protection shampoo, but my dye job (professional or home) always fades rather fast. Do some hair textures or do certain hormones make the fading process faster? What other products or techniques can I use to prolong my color?

Your hair may be more porous and using thicker products can help seal the cuticle and using things with a low PH like using aloe Vera after a leave in. Also an apple cider vinegar since diluted with 2 cups of water will help seal the cuticle

Well, even if you're washing it often, try to keep it out of the running water. Wet it, wash it, and rinse it out as quickly as possible, then tie it up and out of the water while you wash the rest of your body. Also try brands like Pureology, which is designed for color treated hair. Look for products with no sodium laureth/laurel sulfate and no sodium chloride. You can also add hair dye to your shampoo and conditioner.

Hot water makes it fade faster. Always lower temp when washing. Products with lots of alcohol or sulfates strip color especially when used with hot tools. Bright colors, reds or blondes that need a lot of toning require a lot of upkeep no matter what. If every color even brown is fading you may need protein and moisturizing masks to restore porosity so that it holds the color. If you have had your hair lightened and it won't hold darker color now it may need a color correction service to restore underlining pigment. It could be a number of things. It's hard to tell without pics.
