I'm with some of the ladies here, I don't curl. BUT my lashes are really really long as it is, and touch above my crease when I put mascara on, I have to be careful after I first apply mascara not to open or close my lashes too much or it's smudge city. So I feel like I can skip curling, personally.
Just something I've noticed but I haven't had enough experience to know if this holds true in most cases: are most Women of Color's lashes curly already?

@Bree I wish!! I am black & Hispanic and my eyelashes are long but they point downwards they're so straight. And my hair is super curly so it's pretty lame. On the other hand my niece is the same ethnicity as me, same hair texture & she has the longest extremely curly eyelashes ever... With that said I don't think it has anything to do with your ethnicity/hair texture.

Thanks, Monique! I went to curl one gals lashes and wash shocked but how perfectly curled they were naturally! I was just holding my eyelash curler like "uh duh, well nvm, nothing for me to do here".

@Bree I am western European in ancestry (going verrrry far back) and my lashes curl naturally. I have pin straight hair that resists curl as well. I don't think lash curl is defined by hair type or ethnicity, though that is certainly an interesting hypothesis.
