Yes definitely do everything gradually! Do makeup sure you have at least something on! Whether it's suntan lotion or tanning oil just don't be bare. Keep hydrated and your skin moisturized! That's very important

I suggest self tanning, because the color is easily adjustable! (Depending upon the brand )!

I recommend st tropez bronzing mousse! I'm also super pasty and have tried all kinds of stuff like jergens but at tropez gives you a super natural color.

If you get a fake tan (spray or self application) you'll want to shower, shave, exfoliate exfoliate exfoliate, then shave again. My favorite fake self applications are Million Dollar Tan, St Tropez, and Fake and Bake.
If you want a spray tan, ask around, and look up reviews for places around you. I have a local place I go to and I absolutely love love love it. Not streaky at all and lasts around 2 weeks before it's totally gone. I used to be a lifeguard so I have pretty uneven skin - I would recommend if
You get a spray tan to go to a place that does it by hand, that way the person can actually see where you need more or less. When you go in, make sure you shave and exfoliate before because you don't want to shower for 24 hours to let the color soak in (most tanning products are like this, but read the instructions) and wear baggy clothes that don't stick to your skin (when it touches your skin it might catch pigment and cause streaks).
Good luck! : )

If you decide to spray tan don't forget to quickly apply lotion afterwards or your hands will be orange that happened to one of my pale friends.
