Worst makeup counter experience?

Mine was at mac and the SA's were ignoring me and it wasn't busy at all! I'm fifteen but they always assume us teens don't have money to buy/or going to steal. So ladies rant away!

I'm 14. At sephora the workers vary, once they thought my eyebrows were super nice and they wanted me to show them how to do them which I thought was pretty cool. But once I went and I waited 15 minutes when the store was nearly empty to pay, because the workers were too busy gossiping. I found that a bit ridiculous. Also once, one of the workers said my makeup looked great but said that people would call me out because I was young looking and putting on a full face. she said it looked like I was "trying too hard". Personally I found that a bit offensive and uncalled for, but to be fair I've had many good experiences.

You're makeup is great josi! I wear a full face of foundation but as long as you apply it right and take care of your skin it doesn't make a difference.

The two high-end places I usually buy make up at is Nordstorm & MAC..
My mom worked Nordstorm before so it's not really an issue. They maintain themselves professionally and usually attend every person that walks by the counter. I prefer Nordstorm over Macy's anyday.
Same with Saks Fifth Avenue, They maintain themselves professionally. I like going to all these crazy high end places for a couple of reasons...
1. Most people don't dare buy there unless they got $$$ on them. People who look usually tend to become intimidated, anyways.
2. The store is pretty, clean, and they have a lot of shinies and shiny floors and shiny lamps and shiny things.
3. I'm going to pay the same price at Sephora - I might as well shoot for quality & respect. Plus sephora is on the other side of the mall.
4. It's not crowded. Macy's is usually filllllllled with tons of people.

I'll go into Sephora if they have some kind of sale or a brand I don't have access to. But my Sephora has a bunch of old ladies that really do everything half hazardly so it's just discouraging to even walk in.


Ulta is a WHOLE NOTHER Story.
From what I remember. My Ulta was due to close at around 7pm. It was about 6:25 when one of the girls at register said it was closing time. One of the workers told her that it wasn't near time yet and that there was still customers in the store. So she yelled back OH WELL THEY BETTER HURRY UP CAUSE IM CLOSING THE REGISTER.
I literally had like 5 different products in my hand that I was about to pay for. I was in the aisle right infront of the register, so I literally responded almost just as loud.. ' Oh well I guess I'll just go buy it at Sephora then!'
Her reaction was very amusing to observe lol.

I went to clinique once to try out some foundations and the girl gave me one about 3 or 4 shades too dark. People in ulta have followed me around thinking I'm trying to steal which I find extremely rude. Just because you're a teenager doesn't mean you're going to steal.

I remember when I was like 10 I was in ulta and I was wearing a pink juicy sweat outfit, and I heard the manager say to another coworker while looking at me "keep your eyes on that girl with the pink jacket, she might steal something!) like really?! I was ten!!
But it just makes me mad in general when they follow you around like your going to steal something! Like I guess I'll just take my money else-wear!

I cannot recall a horrible encounter, but I have noticed that when I have my hair freshly done and am dolled up I receive much better service than days where I pop a pony in and keep my make up minimal.

I went to buy a foundation at a benefit counter and I needed help matching the foundation. I knew the light in the room was way too light and yellow and there weren't any large mirrors so I needed the lady to test it on me. She grabbed the first one, tested it and said it was an exact match and kept reassuring me it was. I looked but it was a bit too light but the she looked like she knew what she was talking about. Bought it, and obviously, it was too light. Never again -.-

I'm thirteen, and I shop at Boots a lot. I went there looking for a foundation and went to the makeup counter to ask for advice on what foundation would be best for my skin (I have oily and VERY pale skin) and she directed me to the Collection isle, Collection is honestly the most dire brand when it comes to foundation. The lady picked up a ghastly orange foundation and used an entire pump and then rubbed it on my cheek. When I said it wasn't my shade she said I was too young too know what's right for me. After that I walked into Superdrug and got wonderful service and a foundation that is my colour and doesn't break me out. I broke out like crazy where that lady put on that foundation, and I actually have an acne scar from one spot that actually went cystic.
