I'm not sure if you can put anything on it thicken it, I'd advise taking fish oil and eating nuts especially almond, they're rich in vitamin E which is good for hair and skin, hope that helps :-)

Try not to use a flat iron or a curling iron everyday, so you won't burn you hair. Styling damages the texture. I consider myself a lucky girl having thick hair. My best friend hasn't and she uses argan oil after shower and before styling. Also what Mhairi M says is right! I'm a nutritionist, and my advice is to eat a lot of veges especially broccoli, fruits and almonds.

Iron and Vitamin D are crucial for healthy hair. I agree E is also highly beneficial. Unfortunately, genetics play a huge role in hair thickness. Health, diet, stress, age, processing...these also effect hair. Heavy conditioners and certain products can weigh down thin hair. Joico is formulated to reduce breakage and get thinner hair looking its best. Marshalls and TJ Maxx usually have it.
I'd also invest in a "Wet Brush" which does not snag and detangles beautifully. Redken anti-snap works great to keep breakage to a minimum. Smells wonderful! You may also want to try to maximize what you have with a hair powder. Got2B and Big Sexy both have ones I love. You section your hair in a few spots at the root...apply a little to the scalp and then massage using your fingertips. A little gentle backcombing and bam! Volume! To revive it..you just lean forward slightly and rub the crown if your scalp gently. Good luck to you!

I mean washing it not as often is a good idea but if you have fine thin hair you can look greasy fast so use dry-shampoos a night before the day you skip showering.

as for thickening, coming from an indian background, we believe in doing deep conditioning treatments using oil. specifically mixing coconut oil, jojoba oil and argan oil leaves your scalp nourished and your hair smooth. I find that my hair grows thicker and healthier. I suggest doing this 2x a week leaving it at night and showering the next day.

-use heat less often
-put a little bit of coconut oil in your hair, let it set for about 15 minutes at least (or if I'm staying home all day I put coconut oil in the night before, then French braid it and leave it in all day)
-try to be as gentle as possible
