Every dye will last differently on different hair. For example, manic panic lasts 3-5 months without fading for me, but washes out within a week for my sister.
When picking dye it depends on the color, the dye and your hair. I do not recommend splat, as for an unnatural dye it does not condition at all and in my experience it only dries out hair faster and is super liquidy so it's hard to apply evenly. Special effects is my favorite, it lasts longest in my hair (4-6 months), I get 2-3 dyes with one bottle and it conditions my hair the most. Manic panic comes in second for all of the above. Punky colors is another good one, though it doesn't last as long.

Pravana is absolutely the most pigmented and long lasting color I've ever used. and they have some beautiful colors!

DON't Use.SPLAT!
Best colors are Manic Panic and Special Effects and if you want long lasting and cheaper use Adore. These are all semi permanent brands.

I bought Pravana in magenta and diluted it for pastel pink hair. Bought it from http://www.discountbeautycenter.com and didn't have any problems. Shipping was normal, product was perfect. :3.
