Do you mean natural tanning, tanning beds, or spray tanning? (:

Tanning beds

You can go naked in a lay down as well. I beyond recommend lay down, low intensity beds. High intensity or stand up beds only tan you and don't provide vitamin d so the benefits aren't great. They also tan you so fast that you increase your chance of burning which is what evidently causes cancer. In a lay down, low intensity bed you tan more naturally in a controlled environment and this allows you to develop a base tan and develop your skins resistance to the sun which is great for you in the long run.

I just go naked! I just started tanning for the first time recently and it was weird be naked at first but I've gotten used to it haha. I go in the lay down beds.

Well as I've said before not everyone will get skin cancer. But getting a base tan will help your skin produce more melanin, which is what tans you. If you don't have enough melanin you burn, regardless of wether it's indoor or outdoor, and burning is horrible for you and is what causes melanoma.

Just a reminder that even if you don't burn, you're still causing damage to your skin and there is always a risk of skin cancer. I'd recommend just avoiding indoor tanning in general...

Yes, I forgot to mention it but I've never used a tanning bed but have had 3 moles checked (as in cut out) for melanoma it's no joke! I'm an SPF freak now probably because of the scars I have to see every day.

Please girls, don't start an argument on this.
Go naked if you don't want any tan lines.

I don't see any arguments. I see nothing more than opinions and information from both camps being shared here.

Is it sanitary to tan naked, like do they clean it after every person? Lol I've never been to a tanning salon so I'm just curious.
Apr 2, 2014
Brittany F.
Most places do clean before every person, not too many people let you clean it yourself because they're scared of what you might put in the bottles hahaha.

Though I have heard of places that cleaned it like every 5 people, so I'd go to a big chain to assure they have set rules and a bigger boss to follow.

I suggest avoiding UV tanning completely since it damages your skin. There is a nice easy to read article here that explains the difference between a dha and UV tan :-)

Woah woah, relying on dha for a cosmetic tan is fine, but what are you going to rely on for your vitamin d? There's no need to completely avoid the sun it did bring you life after all

Tan naked. I don't think there was an argument started, but I don't see much of a need to comment about the hazards of tanning. It's safe to say everyone knows that tanning can cause cancer. Whether indoor or outdoor. I'm pretty sure Tori knows this as well and has decided to take the risk. So have I. It is what it is.
If you don't want tan lines, tan naked. It's pretty difficult for me because I only tan outdoors but I don't want tan lines this year so I have to find a new strategy. LOL.

I didn't say avoid sunlight lol, the amount of sun you need for vitamin d production can be obtained by normal outside activity. Most people get plenty of UV without trying so tanning in the sun isn't necessary for antiquate production unless you only go outside to tan and spend the rest of your day indoors.

Technically we get 0 direct sunlight from October to March in North America.. And as soon as the sun comes out everyone lathers on sun screen. She just wanted to know how to get tan lines, she didn't want other people to judge her lifestyle choices.
