So I heard milk of magnesia and aloe vera gel work great as a foundation primer for oily skin. Is this true? and are there other things I can try as a primer?

I've tried aloe Vera. I liked it, because it helped control redness and it always felt icy cool on my skin. You have to be careful though because it can make your foundation look patchy.

I have used milk of magnesia and love it. It seriously keeps your makeup in place all day. I have heard its not good for the skin and try to use it only when going out.

The milk of magnesium works, but its actually bad for your skin in the long run. I have used Monistat and it worked really well, I probably used it for a year to maybe even a year in a half, but I felt like it just didn't work as well because my foundation started looking dry and cakey. Personally I would just stick with an actual primer because none of the alternatives worked. If you are looking for something cheap then I say, L'Oreal Lumi Primer (only use is you want a dewy/glow face because it is veryyy illuminating, but I like that look and its a good primer), Rimmel, Maybelline Baby Skin (basically the same as though but I like how it was more moisturizing, but not the best as a primer), Nyx, Elf Mineral Infused (love it but breaks me out almost immediately after using, but I really like it). As far as high-end, I loveeeeeeeeee Benefit Porefessionals (by far my favorite), Too Faced Primed and Poreless, Bare Minerals Prime Time, and Hourglass (haven't tried it but has great reviews but also its very expensive).

Sorry, (basically same as Monistat* as far as how it looks and feels***) on Baby Skin.
