I recently dyed my hair like a red based purple and I really want to keep it vibrant. The only think is I want more of a blue based purple! so I was wondering if I could put a little bit of manic panic purple Haze in my shampoo to keep it vibrant? Will it change the color of my hair at all? my hair stylist said I could use a purple shampoo but that isn't really possible for me at the moment. Also if I do mix the dye with shampoo could I mix it with my cleansing conditioner instead?

I would mix it with your conditioner only and leave it on your on hair for 3mins.

Personally, I've always mixed my hair dye with my shampoo, because my roots fade fastest, and I only put shampoo there. It's always worked for me. However, I agree that if you want to effectively dye your hair, you should mix your dye with a conditioner and let it sit on your hair for a while. That helps a lot, as in the shower the heat and the conditioner will help the dye penetrate more. Also, make sure you're rinsing with cold water to seal the color inside the shafts of your hair. Hope this helped :)

You want to do shampoo and conditioner with the dye mixed in! The conditioner slows the process down so 3 minutes really doesn't do much. If you put it in your conditioner, make sure its mostly dye. The conditioner will do its job still even if its minimal. Dyes are conditioning anyway. Same thing with my shampoo I do mainly dye and a little shampoo.
Only do it every 2 or 3 times you wash your hair, you don't want to overdo it. It will help a lot.
Like Hannah said, cold water gurl! Sucks but you have to do it! I also use a heat tool after the days I wash dye it. It helps lock the color in a bit more, so I've been told. Seems to work for me!
