Ugh whenever I put on foundation or concealer it's so cakey! Even bb cream. It gathers into itty bitty clumps and looks so bad!! I'm moisturizing all the time, what can I do to fix this?!

Have you tried exfoliating?

Mar 26, 2014

Alisha G.

I use "simple exfoliating wipes" twice a week. Is that good? And thanks so much for answering :)

Maybe using a primer to help your foundation stay on your skin more evenly?

You should invest in a face wash that will exfoliate.

Probably not. I use a facial brush twice daily for a gentle exfoliation. Then about 3x a week a use an actual face scrub by Giovanni or Aveeno. And just recently I started doing a DIY lemon and sea salt scrub once a week.

Renay: I have sensitive skin that gets red a lot. I'm thinking I have dry skin too since everything I put on is so cakey

I'm using L'oreal true match. What dewy foundation would you recommend?

Renay: ok, so what primer do you use?

If you have sensitive skin try exfoliating with baking soda I like to mix some into some unfiltered pure honey and only do this 1-2 times a week.

Are you using a primer?

Mar 26, 2014

Roz X.

Philosophy Microdelivery wash is a exfoliating wash that is intended to be extremely gentle. I think you'd find that effective. Hourglass makes a priming serum that leaves skin so smooth. I would only recommend the serum for those without oily skin.

No marleen I'm not using one but I'll definitely check into the hourglass serum, thanks rozberry! Yeah Ana I'm scared to exfoliate too much lol. like I said above, I am currently using the simple exfoliating cloths. I really like them but not sure what's causing the cakey makeup. Thanks for the advice everyone :)

Oh the Hourglass is great. I just bought it and already love it. What Ana said ws o point.
When you apply your moisterizer let it try complete same with the primer. Tht usually helps to stop the cakyness and when you apply for foundation slowy built it up and then set it with a setting powder and setting spray. goos luck:)

The reason I asked about the primer is because some primers, face treatments and moisturizers can clash with your foundation and cause "pilling".
