Yay! I de-brassed myself!

First I was reddish color (from bleaching black hair). Then I used a ash blond toner and got the a lot of red out but the result was still brassy yellowish.. Then I used purple conditioner and got what I wanted. (I was close to chopping my hair off but I decided to lighten as a change instead). What do you guys think? Is there a better way to lighten course blk hair?
