This is a bit of rant thread but please anyone that has genetic acne don't take offense to this, it was not aimed at you.
So one of my pet peeves is when someone complains to me that their skin is covered in spots and it turns out that they don't even wash off their makeup at night.
People you need to develop a CONSISTANT skin care routine! I know its really annoying after a night out or a long day and you're tired and you don't want to have to cleanse, tone and moisturise but if you want good skin its what you need to do. Go on youtube and watch some skin care routine videos, everyone that has good skin will spend a good while at night treating their skin. I feel like people are relying too much on foundations and concealers these days to do the work for them but you need to put the time in. If you're spending more money on concealers than you are moisturiser then you need to re-evaluate your situation haha. You also need to know your skin type and buy products that are specifically for that, research them and ask people on here! We are more than willing to recommend stuff we use and give you reviews on things.
Thats all. Have a nice day everyone ^_^

Oh and if anyone has anything to add to that or any tips please share.

Erin what skin type do you have? Face masks twice a week would make my skin go apeshit :(

You're lucky you can do so much to your skin though. Mine is really sensitive and dry and my 'exfoliant' is like a daily face wash haha.

What is the depo  shot?

Oooh I thought about depo as a BC option but I didn't like the fact that if you react to it you can't just stop taking it because it is in your blood stream :P

I don't really ever exfoliate on my face since it always seems to make it more flakey instead of less :( I just wash my face daily, use my dark angel face mask (oil control) once a week, and moisturize 2-3 times a week... It seems less is more with my face, I can easily make it too dry or too oily by over treating.

That is so upsetting! I would be so incredibly pissed especially since you are stuck with it for 3 months :(

BUT I'm going to start cause I'm dying for clear and natural skin. the problem with my face are like the red dots. will those come off? if I start cleaning/moistureasing my face every day how long will it take for me to have that clear skin? anyone knows?

I agree. Routine is crucial in skincare. I also advise..
Drinking green tea to detox
Getting lots of Vitamin C, Iron, Zinc, E and B complex
Drinking water like crazy, often with a bit of lemon
Exercise and healthier eating
Using a toner
SPF and moisturize
Use all cotton sheets, towels, pillowcases and cosmetic puffs
Watch for parabens or mineral oil..which can clog pores
Find a reputable derm or Esty

Lupita I'm sorry to say its not even as easy as that... I've been treating my skin like a god for maybe the past year but it's only now that its become perfectly clear. You have to experiment with products and what suits your skin and stuff. Its so worth it in the end though :)

I wash my face while I'm in the shower & I use a light toner on it when I get out. At night I use the repairing lotion from proactive, and it faded all my acne scars. it's amazing! I've never had problems with my face when it's tan, because it keeps it clear & also fades my scars/stretch marks on my body. And can I add that I DONT take my make up off at night (when I DO wear it)? 😏

So everytime you wear makeup you leave it on all night and take it off in the morning or just put more on top of it? Why? It's not that much of a chore to take it off at night.

I agree!! I do have genetic acne but I definitely do not take offense lol. I WISH that my acne was from me simply not washing my face properly because then it would have been MUCH easier to fix lol. I can keep my face super clean, moisturized, use treatments, etc.and will still have acne. I've never known the luxury of being able to be lazy and sleep with makeup on because I KNEW with my skin type and my issues that if I didn't make myself clean my face properly I'd pay for it. And I experienced that one night when I had a migraine so bad all I could do was come home and collapse into bed. I had horrible cystic spots for about a month after that. So next time I'm sick I will literally have to be in the process of dying before I don't wash my face lol.

Also, this is a peeve of mine that is sort of related. It drives me up a wall when people say they only use makeup wipes to clean their face. OMG it literally makes me cringe. They leave behind soooo much makeup, you might as well just leave it all on. Maybe I'm biased there because I do use a Clarisonic which leaves my skin spotless, so I guess my standard of cleanliness is a little high lol. That and makeup wipes immediately give me spots. I can use one in the car on the way home and by the time I'm home I have big painful spots coming up. I don't see how anyone can use them. But again, it's probably just me, everyone's skin is different obviously.

But yes, skincare is an all day, every day thing. You have to keep tending to it to keep it healthy and looking good. For some it's easier and simpler than it is for others but if you want healthy skin you have to put in the time for the most part.

^ I had no idea for years and years that makeup wipes didn't remove everything and eventually someone told me and I thought 'ha. yeah right, I'll show her' so I took off all my makeup and made sure that EVERYTHING was gone then used a cleanser and saw how much crap was still coming out of my skin (and it went on for ages) my face looked exactly like his. But even on the days where I don't wear makeup (most days) I'll cleanse at night and STILL crap will come out :(
That sounds awful Caitlin :( I hope it will get better in time :)

It's gotten SO much better since I finally took myself to the dermatologist and got some prescription medications, thankfully. I'm hoping that I'll grow out of it too, my dad did so I'm hoping that eventually it will just even itself out and go away all together. But luckily there are so many products and options when it comes to dealing with it. It's still stubborn and a crappy thing to deal with but it's always good to have options :)

And yea, even now when I just wash my face with my hands I don't feel it's clean enough because I'm used to using a Clarisonic and that literally gets everything out. But mine is broken and I'm waiting for the warranty replacement to get here and they're taking their sweet time with it...ugh lol

Thats brilliant,I'm glad everythings working :D You probably will since its genetic and he did but you're right, there's no many options for us all these days there's no excuse. My sister grew up with acne and she didn't really have any options except to go on the pill really. Did you go through the shop you bought it at or return it directly to the company?

Mar 25, 2014

Lexi A.

I wash it off the next day. it's actually WORSE for your skin to put too many cleansers and topical treatments on it.

Lexi A.

Who said it was a chore?

Mar 25, 2014

Caitriona H.

Whatever works for you. Personally I would feel disgusting leaving all that crap on my face and would have to change my sheets and have a shower the next day but thats just me I guess :) I can't tell if you're being aggressive and aiming that statement at me but I'm going to assume the best and that you aren't. Yeah I agree that you can definitely overdo things but I would hardly say cleansing my face at night and putting on moisturiser is overdoing anything. Nobody said it was a chore I just don't understand why if you're going to clean it anyway why you wouldn't do it at night and not let your skin fester in the products and rub it all over your sheets and then be lying in that everynight after? :)

I returned it through the company since the Mia 2 has a 2 year warranty. I checked my tracking code and it arrived at their office on March 18th so I'm hoping once they get everything processed I'll get my replacement soon. It's been almost a month now and I want it back so bad lol.

I have to agree though, I don't think cleansing your skin and moisturizing nightly is bad for it. Even when you don't put makeup on there's still going to be stuff that needs cleansed off, whether its oil, etc. I also don't think people realize that our environment also has a lot of dirt and free-radicals in it which are stressors on the skin. So I always think its good to cleanse that off at the end of the day.
