So on friday I broke my wrist badly and the doctor prescribed me codeine, since I started taking it my skin has broken out all over my face (not a rash, just pimples.) I was wondering if any of you guys have experienced this or heard of it? and if it is the codeine or something else? normally my skin
only has a few pimples. sorry about the long post!

Codeine can cause a rash, hive , itchy skin, warmth and sensitivity to cold.

If you had an effect it would most likely be red and itchy.

You can go to your doctor and tell them that you have a negative reaction to your current pain medication and they can prescribe you something different :)

I would again talk to your doctor... The magical internet did say that when taking coedine you tend to touch your face more. Not sure of the validity of this! Best bet talk to your doctor.

Although it isn't a listed side effect, I believe it can cause acne. I've had people in the family who had to take it for injury that got acne and it stopped immediately once they were off it. In the meantime keep up with your usual cleansing routine, drink green tea, and stay away from makeup or anything else that could irritate your skin more. Get better soon xx 😘

Thanks! I'm on quite a heavy dose (at least thats what the nurse said) so I might try to lower the dosage untill I don't have to take it any more. :) thanks!!

Fracture of the right distal radius, they gave me morphine up the nose (pretty sure it was morphine) and laughing gas while they manipulated it back into place.

Ouch! So sorry about your wrist. I would give the Dr. a buzz. Usually the nurse on duty will field questions and they'll alert the doctor that you're having a reaction. They can just switch you to something else. Good luck!
