It's most likely the SPF since it reflects light off your skin. I wear sunblock all the time and I hate that ghostly white I get in flash photos, but hey - it's either that or skin cancer, right!?

Look for a foundation with a low or no SPF! The titanium dioxide in SPF is what casts the white shadow! Good luck I love these tips and tricks I have a lot on my YouTube channel, graceandglamor!

any product with titanium dioxide zinc oxide or silica powders will cause a white cast in flash photography. smashbox has the studoio skin foundation which has spf but a chemical sunscreen which does not cause a white cast.

I only use a foundation with SPF during the day. I use a different and very slightly darker foundation at night. It doesn't seem to reflect in photos with flash and it gives my face a softer look in some of the different lights when I go out.
