you need eyeshadow brushes.. and about 3-4 colors.. but since you're barely starting I say start with 1-2 colors maybe like a light color on the whole lid and then a little darker color (brown) on the outer corner of your lid.. and you patt on the colors.. go on youtube and search easy eye makeup tutorials. . maybe that will help :)

Don't go too overboard in the beginning. Maybe try a lid color and a crease color.

I apply mine with my finger or a small brush, if you cbf buying lots of tools and crap then do that. for everyday looks I put a light colour in the inner corner of the eye and then a darker in the outer corner. experiment with different looks. I've got brown eyes and I find purple or gold look good for the inner colour and just a Brown or black for the outer corner.

when I first started. I got basic colors about 4 of them. I used my fingers to apply them but I know brushes work better. I recommend BH cosmetics or coastal scents they sell brushes for really cheap and packs of them too. you are going to need primer l'oreal has one called de-crease if your on a budget. but if you dont mind spending the money check out TwoFaced shadow insurance Urban Decay primer potion and I know lorac makes a really good one as well :)
I hope this helps :))
