If your hesitant start by working your accessories a animal print or floral clutch bag or belt a pop of color with your shoes like red or a colorful statement necklace you can add color to any neutral look.

You can do patterned leggings or scarves. even shoes (leopard print loafers for example). add some color with bags, necklaces, earrings, rings, etc. accessories can really change an outfit.

As for brown & black, I personally don't like them together. but some people do, so it's up to you. it depends on the outfit too.

Sorry to comment so much lol. but you can get a couple of colored/patterned pieces to mix & match. maybe a colored or floral skirt, colored blazer, etc. hope I helped!

I agree with the people above, start small with scarves and purses and other little accessories until you know how to match your neutrals with patterns.

Easiest patterns to style are small dotted items, floral tanks under clothing items like cardigans/jackets, also, patterned comfy pants can be matched with a plain top, or get a lovely floral kimono and add to a plain outfit.

I'm not into the whole animal print, but I do like florals (:

Black is a neutral colour and it can be mixed with all other colours.

How I added colours was I started with a one piece for example plaid flannel then I would chose a shirt that has the same colour like in the flannel and then I put on simple jeans to end up the look.

I'm trying to add more colour/pattern this summer too and honestly? I just went for it, I didn't feed it in or anything. I felt like if I introduced colour and pattern slowly I'd kind of get stuck. Now my wardrobe has completely changed and I feel so much better for it :)
