Rebecca: signing up is free, and you become a Beauty Insider. Once you sign up, you get a point for every dollar you spend there, which add up and can be spent on things they call "perks" which are worth 100, 250, 500 or 1000 points. Once you have enough points, you can get any perk that you choose.
If you spend $500 in a calendar year, you're a "Very Important Beauty Insider" or VIB, and if you spend $1000 in a calendar year, you become a VIB Rouge, which is when you start getting free products during designated promotions (like the gift bag I received today).
